WENDY LEECE TO HOLD A TOWN HALL MEETING

Here's what Wendy put up on her blog today:

Let's talk about Costa Mesa's future in light of the City Council's recent actions. Will these decisions impact our safety? Will crime increase? Will response times be longer? What about the loss of ABLE? What's in store for the future of our city? I want to hear from you and also listen to your suggestions. I know many do not always agree with me, or may not have voted for me, but I can tell you truthfully, I represent all Costa Mesa residents who value the great city we live in who are concerned about recent changes.

Kelly Thomas Memorial and Protest Going On All Day Today In Fullerton

Costa Mesans, you do have a dog in this fight* and you will be welcome at the memorial and protest.

*Attitudes of some Fullerton Cops and Costa Mesa Cops seem to be similar, and as you can read below, the Fullerton Cops showed solidarity with the Costa Mesa Cops during the last election by donating $ 1,000 in an attempt to defeat Jim Righeimer.  In addition, Fullerton's Police Chief was one of the people selected by Costa Mesa CEO Tom Hatch to interview applicants for the Costa Mesa police chief job.

Haunting Cries of Kelly Thomas

Imagine the anguish that the parents of Kelly Thomas are now going through as they hear the tape of their son being beaten to death and who is crying out: "Dad, Dad, Dad."

We all want cops who want to protect and serve.  We want to know that our kids are safe.  We want to know that our kids won't be killed if they are mentally ill and are stopped by cops.

What's With  the Dotted Lines Between Fullerton Cops & Costa Mesa Cops That Seem to Keep Appearing?

Back in October of 2010, the Fullerton Police Officers Association donated $ 1,000 to Costa Mesa First (the group set up by Sandy Genis and Greg Ridge) in an attempt to have a puppet put on the Costa Mesa City Council. LINK

Presumably, this is the same union that represents the cops in the Kelly Thomas death.

Then, over the past few months, the police chief of Fullerton was one of the people who helped City CEO Tom Hatch interview Costa Mesa police chief applicants.

  1. We have a grown daughter who is mentally ill and we live in constant fear of this same thing happening to her. With so many mentally ill people constantly being killed by the police, I have come to hate anyone in a uniform, that carries a weapon.

The mentally ill among us are as harmless as normal people, if you leave them alone. If you approach them they go into defense mode because they are afraid of you. Police officers then use them for target practice.

The worst case I ever heard about happened with the Costa Mesa police back around 1980. They shot a mentally ill young man in Mesa Del Mar as he stood inside his own home, in front of a large living room window that faced the street. His parents had called the police department for admittance into the home and the police responded by shooting, and killing, the young man right through the lighted front window. From what I read, the police just lined up, aimed, and fired for no reason whatsoever.

The police claimed that the man had a small knife in his hand so they were afraid of him (keep in mind that he was inside the locked house). All those officers had to do was call a locksmith to open the door and then allow the parents into the home. Their name was on the title to the property because they lived there too. Because they were locked out, however, they had to watch their son slaughtered right before their eyes. I don't recall how many officers were involved, but there were more than a few, just like in the Thomas case.

Put a badge on a man, and a gun in his hand, and he will think he is superman and entitled to all that God has to offer. Because the city will back his actions up to keep from getting sued, he knows he can do whatever he wants, whenever he wants. The mentally ill among us simply don't stand a chance.

These Fullerton officers have got to be fully prosecuted or this insanity will never stop. The mentally ill are no more dangerous than you or I. Statistics show they commit violent acts in exactly the same percentages as normal people. The mentally ill should be treated with equal respect AT ALL TIMES!!! They are human beings too.
