Latest Hispanic Violence In Costa Mesa: Man stabbed and robbed on Whittier Ave. (x street 19th)

Come on City Council, some of your lefty detractors are saying you need to hire more cops.

You know that's not the solution.

The real solution is to drain the swamp--make Costa Mesa unfriendly for illegal aliens and other criminals.  Pull in the welcome mat and tear down the slums.

You'll never be able to hire enough cops to stop the crime as long as you keep the Westside as a safe haven for illegal aliens and other criminals and so long as you don't dismantle the charity network that feeds them, gives them free medical care and makes them feel comfortable.

One thing you can do right away is bring in E-Verify.  You can then formulate longer term plans to start buying up slum buildings one at a time and tearing them down or turning them into senior housing or ?.

White Flight Stronger Than Ever

Remember all the happy talk about young Whites moving to cities?  New data shows that once they get a taste of that, they tend to move back to the mostly White suburbs.

More Americans Unhappy With Obama On Jobs, Economy

Our economy is not going to improve unless we reindustrialize America. It's no more complicated than that, and by "reindustrialize," is meant that we have to make things, grow things, mine things, drill for oil and do all those things that a booming economy requires.

Most people now know that Obama's stimulus plans didn't work.  The CM PRESS told you back then that they wouldn't work and we told you why they wouldn't work.

It was very simple.  Obama put money into so-called "shovel ready" jobs.  Remember?

Did you think this meant that all the unemployed would then pick up shovels and fix roads?  That's what it sounded like, didn't it?  As we wrote back then, that's not the way our infrastructure is repaired.  There are
well established businesses that bid on such work, and they use heavy machinery to do their jobs.  They didn't hire millions of pick and shovel people.

There are natural laws that permeate all of our existence, including our economy.  If you don't follow these natural laws, you eventually crash.  That's what's happened, and Obama and many politicians in both political parties don't understand this.

What is the major natural law that America is violating?

The law of competition.

All living organisms compete.  They compete for food, for living space, for existence itself.  The law also applies to cities and nations.

America is not competing.

Several decades ago, we got caught up in the notion that we could have a global economy such that America would be a garden spot, and the dirty jobs would all be done "over there," in places such as India and China.

So, we shipped our know-how and our factories over there.  And, we enacted laws that restrict business in this country and which make it difficult for anyone to actually make things here.

Now, we're reaping the results of our stupidity.

America is now contracting, not expanding.  That's what dying  plants, animals, and, yes, nations, do.

India and China are expanding.  That's what healthy plants, animals, and, yes, nations, do.

America must build, drill, dig and grow again.  We must regain our vigor and our exuberance.

  1. Mr. Millard: I agree that the U.S. has to start industrializing again, but we may disagree on the specifics. America can no longer compete in the production of cars and appliances. We have ceded those products to foreign countries and are not likely to get them back, partly because they're doing a pretty good job of quality (Note Kia's sharp rise in customer satisfaction).

Instead, we have to start innovating again and discovering new ways of creating a need for products that may not yet exist. In our continuing shortsightedness, we have again cut the budget for NASA, which has been America's R&D dept. for decades.

You may not like to read this, but the answer is not to drill for more oil. That is an old, short-term strategy. Instead, America needs to focus on new economic sources such green technology, computer technology and waste management. The sooner we can become leaders in these and other advanced economic opportunities, the sooner we'll be back on top. Unfortunately, we keep electing small-minded, short-sighted politicians who are concerned only about their next election instead of America in 50 or 100 years. The sooner we start electing people with the greater good in mind, the sooner we'll be back on track.
