SOME INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT THE LAST PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION
(From an email that is making the rounds)

Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law, St.. Paul , Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning last November's Presidential election:

Number of States won by: Obama: 19 McCain: 29
Square miles of land won by: Obama: 580,000 McCain: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by: Obama: 127 million

McCain: 143 million

Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:

Obama: 13.2 McCain: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory McCain won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country.

Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low income tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..."

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegals and they vote, then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

If you are in favor of this, then by all means, delete this message.

If you are not, then pass this along to help everyone realize just how much is at stake, knowing that apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom.

ENEMY-GO-ROUND

Judge Gray has a column in the Daily Pilot today (HERE), about his visit to Vietnam and how different it is today from when he was there during the war.

It probably wasn't Gray's intent to make war seem futile, but in reading his column we were once again reminded of the stupidity of such wars.

One thing that Gray briefly touched on was the fact that Communism--the great "evil" that worried so many of our politicians back then--has pretty much stopped all on its own in Vietnam simply because it isn't (to use evolutionary terms) the fittest system to give a nation's populace what they want. In nature (and humans are part of nature), if something doesn't work, it is eventually eliminated through natural forces.

As we've previously written, we once acted in a play in New York called Enemy-Go-Round. The play--a roundelay--succinctly made the point about how meaningless most wars are. Today's friend, is tomorrow's enemy, is the day after that's friend, in a meaningless carousel of death.

Vietnam. All those lives lost for what? Young men (and some young women) marching off to war because some fat cat politicians manipulated public opinion such that far too many people thought war was necessary. It wasn't.

Nothing was gained except the wiping out of a whole future generation of people now never to be born because their would be parents died for no reason.

Marine General, and two time Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, Smedley Butler got it right when he said "War is a racket."

GERMANS WON'T APOLOGIZE FOR BEING SUCCESSFUL Link
Germany says others should compete if they also want to be successful. [Amen to that.]

Competition is nature's way of finding and rewarding the fittest; and of moving individual organisms, groups of organisms, businesses and nations to the top of the heap in every area of existence.

Those complaining about Germany's success are like someone who loses a foot race and who then complains that the winner ran too fast. "Oh, if only he/she hadn't run so fast, the rest of us would have had a chance. It's not fair, whaaaaa, whaaaaa. Everyone should run at the same slow speed so we can all be winners."

Sorry, that's not the way nature works. Nature has set up the competition throughout existence.

BRITISH NATIONAL PARTY CONTINUES TO RISE IN POPULARITY
Link

The lefties in Great Britain constantly smear the BNP, and the government has even told the perfectly legal political party that it must admit people to the party who don't agree with the party's positions or world view and who want to destroy the party.

Even so, the BNP continues to grow and may win many more seats across Great Britain in the May 6 elections.

WHY SHOULD WE CARE?

The BNP gives a good example of how a common sense political party known for its anti-immigrant and anti-establishment views can grow to be a political force no matter what is thrown at it by lefty haters and bigots.

The BNP is not the only example of this. There are similar parties in France, Germany, the Netherlands and other countries, but the BNP is interesting and easy to follow because it is the most successful English speaking party that is pushing the political pendulum back to the right in nations with large populations of European descended peoples.

IS THERE A SIMILAR PARTY IN THE U.S.?

As far as we know, the closest party, in political and philosophical terms, to the BNP in the U.S., may be the American Third Position Party, but this party seems to move so slowly that one wonders if it's alive at all or is even serious about being a political party.

SILLY LEFTIES STILL WANT TO DECEIVE YOU ABOUT GENES AND HAVE YOU THINK THAT ALL HUMANS ARE THE SAME
Link
In the above linked Salon article dated March 22, 2010 we read the following:
"As it turns out, we all share 99.99 percent of the same genetic code -- no matter our race -- a fact that, geneticist J. Craig Venter claimed, proves that race is a "social concept, not a scientific one."

The truth of the matter is that all DNA is the same from bacteria to humans. A full 100% of the DNA in your grass on your front lawn is the same as yours. So, why are you not grass? Because the order of the four chemicals in grass DNA is different than yours. Its four chemicals, abbreviated as A,T,C,G, are shuffled differently than your A,T,C,G chemicals. In fact, it's the shuffle that is the key to all the differences we see in all living organisms on Earth.

Humans have about 3 billion copies of these letters (A,T,C,G) in their DNA code. If these letters were shuffled just a little, you'd be an ape. Shuffle a little more and you'd be a mouse. A little more shuffling and you'd be a fruit fly.

As the CM PRESS previously reported, geneticists now believe that just one letter out of the 3 billion letters was changed (a mutation) in the human genome to give some humans white skin.

The point is that at the genetic level of things, a very tiny change can have huge effects at the other end. It's a little like firing a rifle. Just take a tiny breath of air as you pull the trigger and your bullet may miss its target by yards.

But, what about Venter's statement quoted in the Salon article linked to above? It was PC nonsense and he backed away from it in 2007. LINK

You'd think lefties would check their facts before publishing garbage, but lefties have an agenda that doesn't include any discussion of the truths of nature and human variability.

OBAMA TO ORDER LENDERS TO DROP MORTGAGE PAYMENTS FOR JOBLESS
A couple of hours after we wrote a short article (below) on home loan defaults and said that the problem now is that many of the bad loans are in poor areas where job prospects are low, we ran across the above linked article that essentially says the same thing that we did but in a more PC way.

Folks, visit poor ethnic neighborhoods in Santa Ana, Riverside, San Bernardino or Los Angeles and you'll see several "Bank Owned" foreclosure signs on almost every street.

The U.S. is going to keep having serious economic problems until we reindustrialize.

Obama really is taking us in a socialistic direction with central control over everything. This, coupled with too many regulations--environmental and otherwise--on businesses, is going to lead us into an ever deeper financial hole.

Folks, we're on a trajectory for a depression and then a war to try to pull us out of the depression. Is this inevitable? No, but that's what our tea leaves are showing us.

ALWAYS BIGGER AND BETTER U.S. NOT SO MUCH ANYMORE
(Here's another example)

The CM PRESS often writes about the world's biggest machine, the Large Hadron Collider in Europe. The LHC is about 17 miles around and is designed to produce energies up to 7 TeV.

What we haven't previously mentioned is the fact that in 1993 the U.S. cancelled a project that had started in the 1980's, and which had cost several hundred million dollars before being stopped, to build a Superconducting Super Collider near Waxahachie, Texas that was to be 54 miles in circumference and which was designed to produce up to 20 TeV.

MORE THAN HALF OF U.S. HOME LOAN MODIFICATIONS DEFAULT AGAIN
Link

And, even more will default in the next few months.

The underlying problems in our economy haven't been fixed and many of the defaulting homebuyers are in poor areas where the job prospects have gotten even worse.

In addition, many of these buyers got these loans without having adequte income to service the debt.

But, under various schemes set up by the feds (as we previously reported) who put out the word that lenders should stop "racist" lending and give loans to under-qualified minorities to give them a stake in their communities, many lenders bent over backwards to make such loans.

Now, the chickens are coming home to roost.

Here's one of the traditional ways to determine if a home buyer can qualify for a loan and pay it back. In many cases this wasn't being done in the last few years as we outlined above: Take your annual gross income, multiply this by .28 and divide by 12. That'll give you the amount of money you can safely pay towards your PITI each month.

However, along the way, the lefties changed the game to be one of forced integration, and this is as wrong as forced segregation.

So what if some neighborhood schools will have students who score higher on tests than in other neighborhoods?

So what if some schools don't look diverse? Since when were we put on this Earth to worship diversity? But, don't force your opinions on those who see little benefit in the lefty version of diversity.

COSMIC RAYS SCREWING UP TOYOTA'S ON BOARD COMPUTERS AND CAUSING SUDDEN ACCELERATION?

Interesting idea, and it mirrors nature.

It's long been known that cosmic rays (they're actually sub-atomic particles) can knock pieces of DNA out of place and cause random mutations that may help life change and diverge.

If the changes give a survival advantage to those with them, then natural selection goes to work to incorporate them into the population. If they give a survival disadvantage, they are removed from the population.

Back to Toyota with its reported sudden acceleration problem. Vehicles with the problem are at a survival disadvantage, and Toyota engineers are now trying to remove the acceleration mutation from the population of Toyota vehicles.

*Costa Mesa is actually 16 square miles, and part of the $1.9 million paid by Costa Mesa taxpayers is offset by about $300,000 from Santa Ana; but this doesn't diminish the point made.

WELL, WHY NOT HAVE A TOLL BOOTH?

THE MAJOR PROBLEM: Beach bound traffic is screwing up Costa Mesa's downtown.
THE SECONDARY PROBLEM: There's not enough money to build a cut and cover trench from 19th Street down to around 16th Street so this beach bound traffic will pass under our downtown.

THE SOLUTION: Put in a toll booth to charge the 100,000 or so cars that pass that way every day.

At Tuesday's City Council meeting, the CM PRESS suggested that a way to get the needed money to do a cut and cover trench at the end of the SR 55 at 19th Street all the way down to around 16th Street to take beach bound cars out of Costa Mesa's downtown would be to install a toll booth and charge for the privilege of going through our city to the beach.

We made the suggestion a little tongue in cheek, but in fact, this could be done--not by Costa Mesa--but by the state.

Maybe one of our politicians should suggest this.

ONCE TOUTED HIGH SCHOOL NOW ONE OF THE WORST
Link

Here's why: When you discuss any organisms--including humans--you have to know that there are differences. Pretending that all humans are the same, that they learn the same, and that they have the same abilities and characteristics is an error of the first order.

Lefties deny nature and that's why we keep throwing money at various human related problems only to find that once the ink has dried on the glowing press releases at the start of some latest expensive lefty scheme (such as Century High School), that the problems haven't gone away and are pretty much the same.

Meanwhile, over in the Dog Universe...

Teachers are at a loss to explain why students at the Dachshund school can't run as fast as the students at the Greyhound school. "We know that all dogs bleed red blood said local politician Kibble Fooley, so the problem must be that the Dachshunds just need more money put into their education or perhaps we need better teachers or a more expensive school, or maybe we should give more money to after school programs. Surely, Dachshunds will then run as fast as Greyhounds."

LHC SETS ANOTHER WORLD RECORD
Link
This morning, two sub-atomic beams of 3.5 million electron volts (TeV) each, were sent around the 17 mile circumference of the machine in opposite directions.

Once everything is calibrated and checked out (may be weeks or months), the beams will be crashed into each other, creating conditions not seen since a few milliseconds after the Big Bang
that created our universe.

THE POINT OF IT ALL? To understand why and how existence exists at all.

When sub-atomic particles are smashed into each other, they spin off other sub-atomic particles. With higher energies, previously unseen and unknown particles spin out, giving us a clue about why the universe and everything in it is even here.

IRVINE SALES TAX OFF 24% FROM SAME PERIOD LAST YEAR
Link

SO WHY SHOULD COSTA MESANS CARE?

Here's why: The CM PRESS believes that the Costa Mesa City Council is relying on sales figure projections for our city that are much too rosy. Irvine's figures just add weight to our argument that the retail sector is still falling.

[See the staff report with the rosy figures from the 3/9/10 City Council Study session HERE]

By relying on rosy figures, the Council will just keep spending money now that they expect to receive tomorrow (which won't come).

This may lead to a major crisis in a few months and the Council will then say: "Gosh, we received less sales tax money than we expected so we'll have to raise money on the backs of the citizens of Costa Mesa."

In other words, it seems that we're being set up to have more costs, fees, taxes being put on our backs.

Here's what the CM PRESS wrote about this in Issue # 67 on 3/9/10

According to Costa Mesa staff's own report, sales tax revenue at mid-year is down 7.1% compared to the same 6 month period last fiscal year. So, does staff use that 7.1% figure to conservatively estimate what the revenues will be at the end of this fiscal year?

Nope. Instead, it uses a figure of 5%.

Also according to staff's own report the Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) is down 15.9% compared to the 6 month period in last fiscal year. So, does staff use the 15.9% figure to conservatively estimate what the revenues from the TOT will be at the end of the fiscal year?

Nope. Instead, it uses a figure of 10%.

Okay, so why does it matter if these projections are accurate or not?

It matters because with projections that are too rosy, the City Council will continue spending our money like drunken sailors and put us into an even deeper financial hole in the coming months.

It would be better to assume the worst (and this really isn't the worst, but it is prudent) and accept the 7.1% figure as the way it's going to be for sales tax revenue. Actually, we think it'll be worse, but 7.1% is at least realistic.

And, on the TOT, one has to understand that Costa Mesa is not a destination location. We don't have the ocean and we don't have Disneyland. The CM PRESS expects to see our hotel business drop over the next months, not increase. If we're right, then we should be using the 15.9% figure and keeping our fingers crossed that it won't be much higher than that. We should not be using a figure of 10%.

Also, remember that in the last six months we had a bump in our TOT as a result of the University of Alabama's football team, staff and fans filling up our local hotels. This means that the TOT from that period was actually higher than we might expect and this skewed the number upward that staff is using in its projections.

If the City Council takes a common sense conservative approach, as we suggest, it'll ask staff for more realistic projections and begin the difficult but necessary job of cutting fat out of the budget right now, a little at a time, instead of waiting for the bad news in a few months.

By cutting back now, the pain to all concerned will be less.

But, what if the CM PRESS is wrong and things really are as rosy as staff believes? Well, it'll just mean that the City will be in an even stronger financial position. In other words, there is very little downside in taking the more conservative approach that we suggest.

If, however, we are right, and the City Council foolishly accepts what we think are rosy figures, in 3 to 6 months, staff will come back to the Council and ask to raise fees, etc. because "Golly, the economy was worse than we projected."

One last thing to remember. Costa Mesa is more dependent on revenues from our commercial (mostly retail) sector than many other cities. In other cities, Fountain Valley for example, much of the City's revenue is based on residential properties.

This means that when the economy is booming and people are spending money in our shopping centers in Costa Mesa, and buying new cars here, the City becomes flush with cash. But, when people cut back on their personal discretionary spending, the City takes in less money.

And, dear readers, all indications are that people will cut back even more on their personal discretionary spending over the next few months in Costa Mesa.

It looks to us as though average citizens are becoming more frugal and aren't spending much on unneeded luxury items. Now, the City of Costa Mesa should follow suit and also become more frugal.

FAILED CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATE SAYS SOMETHING STUPID (AGAIN) BUT CLAIMS TO BE A THINKER

SHORT VERSION OF COLUMN:

Failed City Council candidate Chris McEvoy (that's him in the photo)says that Costa Mesa is the best city in the country.

He also apparently doesn't like people trying to improve the city by first pointing out areas where it needs improvement. And, McEvoy claims that because he has a BS in math that he's a logical thinker.

So, here's our challenge: McEvoy, give us the numbers and statistics that prove that Costa Mesa is the best city in the country. Nothing would make us happier than to learn that this is the case.

On second thought, such a jingoistic statement is so obviously false on its face that it's just silly and you'd never be able to give us a logical answer with numbers and statistics. So, instead, how about just proving to us that Costa Mesa is not trending more like Santa Ana than Newport Beach.

If you're able to write something logical that has numbers and statistics and if it's readable, we'll publish it. But, if you just write the usual lefty kumbaya crap that we hear from you and your pal Foley, don't waste our time.

LONGER VERSION OF COLUMN:

At public comments during Tuesday's (3/16/10) City Council meeting, failed City Council candidate Chris McEvoy went to the podium and said that he agrees with Flopsy Foley, and he said that he's tired of the CM PRESS saying that Costa Mesa is a slum city. He also said that Costa Mesa is the best city in the country.

Now, folks, the CM PRESS has already written why we like Costa Mesa. In fact, we like it so much that we put a lot of time and effort into trying to improve the city.

Specifically, we like the fact that Costa Mesa is close to the ocean, but doesn't have beach traffic (ah, except at the end of the SR 55), that we like the cool, moist ocean breezes, that we like that it's close to the freeways, that we like its general layout and size, and that we like the general vibes in the city. And, yes, we could objectivize each of these seemingly subjective things we like, as we have in the past, but you get the idea.

However, we are also realists at the CM PRESS and we can see things that we think need to be improved and not be glossed over by Pollyannish left wing twerps who can't think in a straight line but who will gush nonsense with no facts to back up what they're gushing.

So, in this last regard, over the years we've given you the objective hard numbers and statistics (remember those words "objective," "numbers" and "statistics") about Costa Mesa, and we've also provided a way to measure how we're doing as a city by comparing our objective hard numbers and statistics with the five surrounding cities, which we call the ring of cities.

These five cities are Santa Ana, Fountain Valley, Irvine, Newport Beach and Huntington Beach. You will devine that we picked these five cities not only because they are close to Costa Mesa, but each one of them physically touches our land at some point, and they do essentially surround Costa Mesa.

What have we found when we compare these five cities with Costa Mesa? In as few words as possible, we've found that Costa Mesa is trending more like Santa Ana--the worst city of the five cities in just about every category you can think of--and less like our natural sister city, Newport Beach--with whom we share a common school district and even a daily newspaper (the Daily Pilot).

We've pointed out that many of Costa Mesa's schools are officially considered to be failing schools. And, we've also said that we have too many rentals (about 62% of housing stock) vs. owner occupied residences and that we have too much industrial zoning, and much of it is on our Westside Bluffs whose highest and best use would be for residences to attract upwardly mobile people to the Westside.

In addition, we've pointed out that the whole city of Costa Mesa was recently put into a slum city category by three members of the City Council--Foley, Leece and Monahan--who voted to make ALL of Costa Mesa an Economic Recovery Zone--this is the same designation that covers all of Santa Ana, but which doesn't cover Newport Beach. Folks, that designation is a tacit acknowledgement of slum status.

Furthermore, back during the time when the Westside Plans were being worked on, it was documented that most of the Westside, along with parts of Mesa North and Mesa del Mar, legally qualified to be put into a Redevelopment Zone because of blight and other downscale conditions.

Now, we were just going to ignore McEvoy's comments but we believe he may give a good example of how improvement obstructionists and lefties think, and he claims to be a logical and mathematical thinker. Also, this guy may try again to get on the City Council.

Here's McEvoy in his own words from his blog (LINK):

"I have a BS in Mathematics which means I am a thinker and a problem solver. Mathematical thinking has its roots in Ancient Greece which led eventually to to logic, law and democracy. The very first thing you learn in mathematics is how to solve a problem and the key first step is to understand that problem. Mathematics also teaches you to understand how all the steps are going to lead to a solution, this gives me strong foresight skills."

So, this guy believes he's a thinker and implies that he's logical.

Okay, McEvoy, put your facts where your mouth is.

Give us the "objective" hard "numbers" and "statistics" to back up your statement that Costa Mesa is the best city in the country and that it's not a slum city. Give us the numbers.

Incidentally, McEvoy's own biography indicates that the farthest he's ever lived from Costa Mesa during his adult life was in Long Beach, so he doesn't seem to have much to compare Costa Mesa to in his claim that it's the best city in the country.

Since McEvoy's statement that Costa Mesa is the best city in the country is so obviously unsupportable and is in the category of statements such as "my school is the bestest," we'll make our challenge easier.

McEvoy, just prove that Costa Mesa is not trending more like Santa Ana than Newport Beach.

Remember, the CM PRESS position is that to solve a problem you first have to realize you have a problem and then you have to objectively study it to fix it.

BLACK LIKE US AT THE COSTA MESA, MISSISSIPPI CITY COUNCIL MEETING LAST NIGHT
At last night's City Council meeting, the CM PRESS once again tried to get the City Council to understand that it should not take taxpayer money and give it to non-profits that do not serve all the citizens of Costa Mesa.

As we've reported before, there are non-profits in Costa Mesa right now that serve one race/ethnicity exclusively.

Last night, we used a slightly different tack to try to make our point. We asked the Council to imagine that they're the City Council of Costa Mesa, Mississippi and that the CM PRESS was a Black man appearing before the Council.

As a Black man, the CM PRESS told the Council that the demographics of Costa Mesa Mississippi show that 70% of the residents are Black and only 30% are white, but that there are four non-profits in the City that are 100% White. No Blacks need apply, apparently. *

We asked the Council why it gives the tax money of Black people to non-profits that won't serve Black people.

Did our point finally sink in? Got us.

Anyway, the basic principle of how to use tax money fairly was summed up by President John F. Kennedy when he said "Simple justice requires that public funds, to which all taxpayers of all races [colors, and national origins] contribute, not be spent in any fashion which encourages, entrenches, subsidizes or results in racial [color or national origin] discrimination."

The CM PRESS has in our files (and we've repeatedly offered copies to the Daily Pilot--but they didn't take us up on our offers), a copy of a Federal Consent Decree against a non-profit in Costa Mesa that actually told a young teen White girl that she was the wrong color to use their services and that they only wanted to serve Latinas [including, presumably, illegal alien Latinas]. They then denied this girl services paid for by taxpaying U.S. citizens.

This particular non-profit apparently thought it was clever in the way it discriminated. It said that everyone of every race/ethnicity could submit applications for their services. The problem was that applications from Whites weren't accepted and the only ones that were accepted were from Latinas. This non-profit got caught because they sent an email telling the White girl that she was the wrong color. They apparently thought that would cause her to just go away silently. Big mistake. The feds swooped in.

A Federal Consent Decree is a very serious matter. If an organization receiving public funds is shown to be discriminating (as was the case of the non-profit mentioned above) and refuses to sign the Consent Decree which has a list of steps the organization must take to end the discrimination, the next step is serious legal action and possible Civil Rights law suits.

Year after year, the CM PRESS has been asking the City Council to adopt JFK's dictum on non-discrimination in the use of YOUR money and year after year the City Council just ignores us.

Why isn't the City of Costa Mesa insisting that charities that receive your money, serve people who look just like you?
---------------------------
[* Costa Mesa is approximately 70% White and 30% Latino, but the 30% fill the non-profits, while the 70% pay but don't get the benefits from what they pay.]
