SIMPLE EXPLANATION OF THE HOUSING BUBBLE: We remember when it all started.

The government, seeing the value of homes rising each and every year, and (mostly White) home buyers making lots of money on paper as a result, felt it was unfair because minorities weren't getting in on the deal.

So, figuring that home values would continue to rise, the government started telling everyone in the real estate industry to sell homes to people who didn't have the income to buy homes.

Overnight, people with virtually no incomes were buying homes. The unspoken thought was that the appreciation of these homes would allow these unqualified home buyers to either refinance their homes or sell for a profit after a year or two and have enough money to buy a less expensive home that they might be able to afford.

Here's the government's idea in simplest terms: Let a minority buy a $400,000 home with no down payment. Let them make mortgage payments by filling the home with as many people as possible who would all chip in. Then, given the level of appreciation, the home would go up in value to, say, $475,000 in a year or so. The minority could then sell that home and pocket $75,000 to use as a down payment on another less expensive home.

Now, the scheme might have worked had it been limited to a few areas around the country. Instead, it was done nationwide. And, as with all pyramid schemes--and that's what this was--it began falling under its own weight because it became so successful. There were simply too many home mortgages in the country that weren't being paid, and this led to too many homes being sold that people couldn't afford to buy after credit got tighter.

You see, the irony is that the more successful the government was in putting unqualified people into their own homes, the more the government doomed these people to falling into financial ruin and even homelessness.

This is the new political party that is trying to get started that we wrote about before.

Up until this week, their website was being updated so slowly that it barely looked active. But this week two new stories were added. So, maybe they're getting things together.


We hadn't even heard of this party and only learned about it when some anti-white bigots started trying to smear it and those behind it. That was enough to let us know these folks might have something worthwhile to say. See what you think.

So, will the Costa Mesa City Council learn anything from the above linked article and stop spending like drunken sailors? Don't count on it. As we reported earlier, staff has given the Council what the CM PRESS considers to be a too rosy prediction of expected Costa Mesa revenues over the next few months.

This means that the Council will keep spending money that they don't and won't have, unless Council, right now, tells staff to come back with more realistic predictions of expected revenue.

If the Council accepts the rosy projections that they have in front of them right now, and doesn't cut back right now on spending, we expect that in a few months the Council will be asked by staff to raise taxes, fees and you name it, and the Council will then try to justify this by saying: "Golly our best projections from staff were off and the economy is worse than expected so we'll have to raise more revenue to give residents the services that they demand." Folks, it's just political shuck and jive.

What the Costa Mesa City Council members usually do is smile and scratch their butts and mumble some brainless nonsense such as: "Well, we have a report from staff, so that's what we're going to do."

In fact, they also do a variation of this when they give our money to non-profits that help illegal aliens and which don't look anything like Costa Mesa. They say: "Well, we have a report from the 3R Committee, so that's what we're going to do."

Folks, I served on the 3R Committee and I'll tell you again the Committee is not acting like a junkyard dog in protecting your money or in helping Costa Mesa improve. It has too many people on the Committee with non-profit and lefty connections.

The City Council members are not supposed to be lazy rubber stamps for whatever is put in front of them. They're supposed to have brains and be able to do a little critical thinking.

Remember when Karen Robinson was on the Council? She was the only one who would often say that she needed more information before voting on an issue. Folks, that's what all Council members should be doing. If they don't have enough information or if something just doesn't make sense, they need to stop and get more information.


Pork barrels and porkers aren't just in D.C. Costa Mesa needs to eliminate pork right in our own city.

  1. I would consider the housing crash a consequence of a free'er market, not minorities. When these lenders could make more loans they loaned to everyone with a pulse and didn't worry about income. Just my opinion.

  2. How you can blame the bursting of the housing bubble on minorities and NOT admit your racist is beyond logic.
    You're right, the "scheme" as you call it was done nationwide. And last time I checked, minorities were not spread evenly across the nation, nor are there enough of them to cause the economy's downfall alone. Much of the midwest, which is very, very white, had huge foreclosure numbers like everywhere else. No, WHITES, just like people of all other races in this country, made the same short-sighted decision and helped burst that bubble. Get off your whites-only pedestal.

  3. Anonymous 1:44--Right. But, our point scratched the surface to tell you why there were freer loans. Another part of the thinking back then was the correct belief that people take greater pride in their community if they own a home there. Thus,it was reasoned, if inner cities were full of crime and blight, the areas could be improved by making more people homeowners in those areas.

    Anonymous 2:33--Try doing some research before writing such nonsense. Statistically, the subprime loan default problem was largely confined to minority borrowers. Not enough space here to lay it all out for you, but here's a few lines from just one area of the country that should shed some light on this for you. Similar stats exist in all minority areas. And, in case you are unable to draw inferences, it is the subprime loans that are largely in default and they are primarily in minorty areas: "Fifty-five percent of black and Latino borrowers in metropolitan Boston who obtained loans for single-family homes from seven US lending institutions had subprime loans, compared with 13 percent of white borrowers, according to a study prepared for the advocacy group Massachusetts Affordable Housing Alliance." http://www.boston.com/business/articles/2007/03/16/a_smoking_gun_on_race_subprime_loans/
