GUY WHO WANTS COSTA MESA'S HELICOPTER BUSINESS HAS STRUCK OUT WITH THE CM PRESS
[However, we don't get to decide.]

In this article [HERE] in the OC REGISTER, we read that the guy who wants Costa Mesa's helicopter business wants to use the expensive Eurocopters if he does a deal with Costa Mesa. (That's strike one with the CM PRESS--they're too expensive and they're French. A Costa Mesa helicopter program might be better served by Robinson helicopters--they're made in Torrance.)

He also wants to bring in shoreline rescue capability. (Strike Two--Costa Mesa doesn't have a shoreline and we shouldn't pay for such a capability.)

Then he said that he wants mountain rescue capability. (Strike Three--The highest mountain we have is a small  man made hill in Tewinkle Park and no one needs to be rescued from that. If anyone ever did need to be rescued, we could send a young kid up on a skateboard to do the rescue.)

Look folks, as we've written before, the only thing Costa Mesa might need a helicopter for is as an eye in the sky.  And, this can be accomplished, as we said above, with locally manfacutured Robinson helicopters.  Robinson has models that they say can be operated for about what it would cost to operate a luxury car.

Mike Brumbaugh

IS 'COMMUNITY POLICING' BEING SEEN BY SOME AS A WAY TO ENCOURAGE THE ACCEPTANCE AND REGULARIZATION OF ILLEGAL ALIENS IN COSTA MESA?

Mike Brumbaugh, who is active in the Halecrest & Hall of Fame Community Association, and who used to be on the Parks and Recreation Commission, has the following comment in the Daily Pilot today:

Mike Brumbaugh at 1:00 PM July 07, 2011
I hope whoever is hired [as Costa Mesa's new police chief] is a firm believer in the COP (Community Oriented Policing) program. We need to keep and strengthen the relationship between communities and police.

Now, the CM PRESS believes that community policing is generally a good idea.

It basically has the cops handle many problems in a more friendly and neighborly way rather than just trying to rack up arrests, and it has the cops get to know citizens.

However, some illegal alien advocates and lefties often use the term in an attempt to try to regularize illegal aliens as members of the community instead of treating them as the criminals that they are. This cheapens citizenship, helps keep Costa Mesa as a sanctuary city and slows down improvement.

HERE'S A LINK to Crissy Brooks' charity MIKA, which has opened a branch across from Halecrest, and which touts its relationship with Halecrest.

Brooks, you may recall, wrote a newspaper column in which she told how she had travelled to Tijuana to cry with some illegal aliens who had been deported from Costa Mesa.

So that there is no confusion about Brumbaugh's position, perhaps he can clarify what he means by "community policing" and by "communities." He might also want to clarify his position regarding MIKA, and if he believes it is a plus for the citizens of Halecrest to have MIKA across the street.

As U.S. falls closer to the level of Mexico, more Mexicans stay in Mexico

A less White U.S. is becoming more Third World, so why bother to leave Mexico to go to Mexico Norte?

LEAKY CMPD SPILLS THE BEANS TO THE DAILY PILOT ON THREE CHIEF FINALISTS

Disgusting A-Frame sign used by some
out of town CMPD cops
The Daily Pilot claims that it got three different leaks from the CMPD on the names of the police chief finalists.

If these weren't intentional leaks quietly authorized by Mr. Hatch so the public could comment before a final selection is made, then Mr. Hatch needs to do something to plug the leaks.

Remember when then City Council candidate Jim Righeimer questioned the wisdom of putting a DUI checkpoint where it was backing traffic up on a freeway off ramp and several cops leaked information to the Daily Pilot after saying that they weren't supposed to talk to reporters?  Did anyone do anything about those leaks that seemed to be motivated by a desire on the part of the cops to make Righeimer look bad?

  1. My family and I have witnessed first hand how Costa Mesa uses "Community Oriented Policing" and it stinks! It has included letting a 14yearold boy walk around our neighborhood smoking marijuana from a bong in plain view, letting a man (who was hiding behind a neighbor's car from passing traffic) drinking in public go without getting any information, not enforcing criminal conduct on a city resident who was on parole so that he could exit parole without new charges, and responding to calls for service incorrectly. This is not good service. It has lead to additional crimes by the same culprits. I also hear Costa Mesa may now be considering an expensive legal case due to previous lack of enforcement by our police dept.
