HEY, BIG SPENDING CITIZENS OF COSTA MESA--WANT TO SEE WHAT YOU PAID YOUR EMPLOYEES IN 2009?
Link to City compensation data.
Citizens of this city must all be billionaires to be paying the help so much.
But, wait a minute, according to this source (HERE), the median family income in Costa Mesa is $72,971 (other sources show a lower figure). So, you're not all billionaires.
Well then, how are you folks paying so many of your individual employees more than $ 200,000 to $ 300,000 per year in total compensation? That's about three to four times more than the median family income in Costa Mesa.
Just based on the above and nothing else, you might think Costa Mesa is going broke. Oh, right.
Maybe we should rename Costa Mesa, Bell Mesa.
As we've written before, how about adopting the Peace Corps model and have the people "serving" us live at the same level as the people of Costa Mesa by pegging their salary and benefit levels to the salary and benefit levels of ordinary citizens?
HOW DO THE UNIONS GET TO SUCH HIGH COMPENSATION LEVELS?
It's easy. The out of town union employees work with union employees in other cities to leap frog pay and benefits. Thus, union employees in City A will elect a few puppets to their city council who will raise their pay and benefits. Then, union employees in all surrounding cities will demand parity.
Then, in the next election, maybe union employees in City G will be able to get a few puppets elected to their city council. These puppets will raise the compensation of their union employees. Then, the union employees in the surrounding cities, including in City A (remember them?) will demand parity with City G. And so it goes.
In the just past election in Costa Mesa, unions in cities as far away as Fullerton gave money to try to defeat Jim Righeimer. Don't understand why? Read the above again.

SWEEPING THINGS UNDER THE RUG AND THE 'WAIT UNTIL ALL THE FACTS ARE KNOWN' SCAMS
You'll even see that on the City's organization chart.
Do you feel like you're in control or do you, as do many others, feel as though your employees are hiding things from you?
Consider the following (and this isn't even a complete list):
There has been much in the press over the past month or two about the CMPD.
--DUI CHECKPOINT INCIDENT: Cops who said they couldn't talk to the press, did so anyway. And, the press reports that came out based on those conversations painted Jim Righeimer in a bad light just before the election in which the cops opposed Righeimer.
However, when the audio tapes of what actually happened were released, it was clear that Righeimer was polite and was just acting as a concerned citizen about a misplaced and potentially dangerous DUI checkpoint. So, what has happened to the cops who spoke to the press? What are their names? Are they the big union bosses? We don't know. This has been swept under the rug.
--STINKEYE INCIDENT: Then we had the stink eye incident involving cops who seemed to be surveilling one of our Councilmembers who was legally putting up signs for Righeimer. We were told that an outside investigator was going to investigate this. So far we haven't heard another official word about this.
--CHIEF AND CAPTAIN INCIDENT: Now we have the two top cops in the CMPD put on leave with no explanation. We are told by many to "wait until all the facts are known." When will that be? When hell freezes over?
--CMPD GPS INCIDENT: And, what about the case of the CMPD cop who used a CMPD GPS device to stalk a woman? Has there been an investigation of how CMPD equipment could so easily be used by a rank and file cop for personal purposes?
And, are there cops using other equipment and police facilities owned by the citizens of Costa Mesa to perhaps further their political and social agendas against the citizens of Costa Mesa?
Folks, that "wait until all the facts are known," stuff is a very old PR trick. It's an attempt to get you mollified until you forget about things.
Look, the public has a right to know what's going on and not have these matters all swept under the rug.
Remember, if we have serious problems in the CMPD, we may end up with some major negligence lawsuits. And, we the citizens of Costa Mesa will be the ones paying for those lawsuits.
The way to prevent another City of Bell situation is for citizens to ask tough questions of our local government and demand straight and timely answers.

OFFICIAL AND FINAL RESULTS OF ELECTION
The Registrar of Voters has now certified the election.
WENDY LEECE 11,572 28.2%
CHRIS MCEVOY 10,846 26.4% SUE LESTER 3,881 9.5%
CHAD W PETSCHL 1,721 4.2%
The over the top negative campaigning by the out of town unions boomeranged.
HAVE YOU NOTICED...
That the people defending the out of towners who are picking our pockets and who are trying to run this city as their personal golden goose, are mostly lefties, uniform groupies and suck-ups, along with the usual assortment of low I.Q. weak sisters who don't know what they believe?
And, have you noticed that it is the stable citizens of Costa Mesa who want power back in the hands of the people?
The voters of Costa Mesa have loudly said that they don't want Costa Mesa to be a City of Bell.
They don't want their employees running the show. They don't want to be sent to the poor house while their employees are living the high life.

Those are our opinions. Thanks for reading them.
Though I disagree with the labeling in the second half of your post, the first half hit the bulls-eye. Stay on the investigations and the lack of reporting.
ReplyDeleteWell said! You are speaking for an awful lot of Costa Mesa taxpayers.
ReplyDeleteCM Press, any thoughts on what can be done to get out of these union contracts? It seems like we are stuck with this lousy deal for the next four years. I heard it said that one way is for Costa Mesa to declare bankruptcy. Would that be so bad?
ReplyDeleteCosta Mesa should declare bankruptcy so we can start over. Remember what the definition of insanity is. Things cannot begin to improve until we either change direction, or go back to square one.
ReplyDeleteIf we can't declare bankruptcy, the least we should do is start cutting from the top down. Taxpayers need some fast relief.
CM Press,
ReplyDeleteI do not have your email address so I thought I would send this info to you this way. Do you have an email link somewhere?
You may want to post this:
35 states file lawsuit
Governors of 35 states have filed suit against the Federal Government for imposing unlawful burdens upon them. It only takes 38 (of the 50) States to convene a Constitutional Convention.
This will take less than thirty seconds to read. If you agree, please pass it on.
This is an idea that we should address.
For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform that passed ... in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn't seem logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law. I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop.
If each person that receives this will forward it on to 20 people, in three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one proposal that really should be passed around.
Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution: "Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United State that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States."
