Every police department should have its officers undergo periodic psychological testing. It's a stressful job, and not everyone can handle it.

The Costa Mesa Police Association Wants You To Donate Money To The Association

Here's a copy of a letter we just received from Ofc. Allen Rieckhof, President Cosa Mesa Police Association, asking for donations.

Say, aren't these the same people who just wasted something like $ 150,000 to try to defeat Jim Righeimer in the election this month?

And, aren't these the same people who drove around the city with a large sign that embarrassed Righeimer and his family because Righeimer had some bills about twenty years ago?

Maybe, if these mostly out of town city employees hadn't wasted money involving themselves in politics in our city, where most of them don't live and can't vote, they wouldn't have to send out letters like this.

In the letter, the CMPA writes that your donation will strengthen relations with "several local worthy groups and charities."  Of course, it doesn't name those worthy groups and charities.  One has to wonder if one of those groups is Costa  Mesa First; which also tried to defeat Righeimer.

GOBBLEDYGOOK FROM THE CITY ABOUT MARIJUANA
Link

At the next City Council meeting on 11/16, the Council will vote on new rules for medical marijuana clinics. The staff report is linked to above.

 Here's one paragraph of the staff report.  See if you can figure out what this says in just one or two readings:

WHEREAS, the City intends to circumscribe its Zoning Code prohibitions to apply them to groups of three or more individuals possessing, cultivating, transporting, distributing, selling, etc. medical marijuana, which prohibition includes facilities engaging in the retail sale, dispensing or distribution of medical marijuana, when such facilities do not have an active role in the cultivation of their marijuana product or when the cultivation of their marijuana product occurs off site;

Folks, it's beyond us why the City Council puts up with this sort of thing and why they even bother reading some of the staff reports we've seen.

Another example is the staff report on bike trails that we previously reported on.  The most important thing about spending money on bike trails is to know how many people might actually be expected to use them, yet we couldn't find any statistics in the report that indicated that.

  1. Marijuana is destroying our children. Why is the city permitting medical marijuana dealers? Their customers simply buy, and resell to our children. The people who claim to need the junk aren't even using it. The people who are allowed to grow the marijuana plants for their own medical uses are also engaged in the business of selling it to our children. Apparently it is not of much medicinal value. Medical marijuana is one huge joke.

  2. Excellent police commentary on both the solicitation letter and the need for regular psychological screenings.

  3. John: Marijuana is not killing our kids. America would be better off ending the worthless "war on drugs" and using the mulit-trillion dollars they would have spent on pretending to fight growers and distributors and giving it back to citizens so they can invest it or spend it instead of having the money shipped overseas. That helps the economy, puts people back to work and strengthens families so kids are less likely to turn to drugs. Get it?
