The above question in a variety of forms and with some variations is being asked in Costa Mesa right now.
What do you do with employees who think they own the City and City Hall and who threaten both elected City Council members as well as City management?
Do you do nothing and let them enter and roam the halls of City Hall at will? If you do this, and excuse the inexcusable and threatening behavior as simply the product of emotion, you may put elected officials and others in danger from unbalanced individuals.
And, what about the City employees who are posting threats on the Internet? Is the City checking City owned computers? Is the City doing everything in its power to discover who these anonymous commenters are and is the City turning that information over to prosecutors and perhaps the FBI or other non-city authorities who can be trusted to be unbiased?
It's very serious when anyone threatens an elected official. Such threats need to be taken seriously.

STILL NO ANSWERS FROM NO-PLANNING COMMISSIONER ROB DICKSON TO SOME VERY SIMPLE QUESTIONS
Hey, City Council, our experience is that each and every one of you (including Windy (sic) Leece) answers questions and emails from citizens of Costa Mesa.
So, how can you keep a guy like Dickson on the no-Planning Commission when he arrogantly refuses to answer any of our questions or to even email us his reasons for not answering them?
We've had no contact from this guy at all. Zero. Nothing. He is apparently ignoring us and hiding.
We don't need dead wood on the no-Planning Commission. We need people with some spine who are activist and who want to improve Costa Mesa; not people who just want a resume enhancement and a quick pay day for doing nothing more than warming a seat and hiding from the public.
Here are the nine simple questions again:
1. Do you support the overlays on the Westside?
2. Do you support building homes on the Westside bluffs?
3. Do you think we have too many charities on the Westside?
4. Do you think we should remove slums?
5. Do you think we should make W. 19th Street into a destination location similar to 2nd Street in Belmont Shore?
6. Do you think illegal aliens should be arrested and be deported?
7. Do you think closing the job center was a good idea?
8. Do you deny that illegal aliens are being hired in businesses on the Westside?
9. Do you deny that there is pollution coming from some businesses on the Westside?
If Dickson doesn't want to answer some of these questions, then he should just answer the others. Once we have an email from him, we may contact him on the phone or in person.
We find it very odd that the guy won't email us, but has had a friend say we should call him on the phone. Now, why would someone not want to email someone? Hmmmm? We can think of a few reasons, and we're sure you can also.
C'mon City Council, you appointed Dickson to the no-Planning Commission, tell him to contact us.
We thought our new Council wanted the "A" Team on the no-Planning Commission.
And, no, we're not picking on Dickson. This guy has made anti-improvement statements in the past, and we want him to clarify where he stands. That's all.
