This is bad news for Qaddafi because with this recognition, the rebels have the legitimacy of being treated as a government with a central authority that can ask foreign nations for help in defeating Qaddafi.
Up until now, Western nations didn't seem to know who to talk to among the rebels. This changes that.

UNIONS LOSE IN WISCONSIN AS REPUBLICANS OUTSMART DEMOCRATS
LinkRepublicans did an end run around Democrat legislators who had fled the state to try to kill the bill removing collective bargaining rights from public unions.
The Republicans did this end run by removing all spending from the bill. Spending would have required at least one Democrat to be in attendance.
Now, the Democrats are heading back to Wisconsin to try to kill the bill--which they can't.
In fact, once even one Democrat shows up, the Republicans can bring in another stronger bill with spending in it and get it passed.
