NOTE TO COMMENTERS:  We get lots of comments, but because we add new material constantly, we're not always sure what your comments relate to.  If you could give just a very few words of context, you'd get a better chance of having your comments posted. Thanks.

LOOKS LIKE A PR CAMPAIGN IS UNDERWAY TO  TRY TO UNDERCUT THE CITY COUNCIL AND KEEP THE EXPENSIVE HELICOPTER

First we read a column today in the DAILY PILOT [HERE] by Rob Dimel who's the guy in charge of the helicopter program, telling us we should keep it.

Then, we read a column, also today, in the OC REGISTER [HERE] by Barbara Venezia who writes about getting a presumably free ride around town in our expensive helicopter and, golly, she also says we should keep it.

Say, when can the rest of us get a free ride in the helicopter paid for by taxpayers?

I'll even volunteer to ride for free and write about whether we should keep it or not.

[Trivia alert: The Marines offered me either helicopter flight school in Pensacola, Fla. or entrance to the Naval Academy if I re-upped. Ollie North is one of the Marines who took the Naval Academy.  I had other plans.]

AGENDA FOR MARCH 15, CITY COUNCIL MEETING
Link
The most interesting items on the agenda are the two requests from Wendy Leece to rehear the Council's decision to evaluate the possibility of increasing the capacity for paramedic services (read a step toward outsourcing such services), and the Council's decision to outsource some City jobs.

The key words in both of these items are "request to rehear."

This is not a rehearing, but many in the expected packed audience won't get it and will try to speak as though this is a rehearing.  It'll be up to Mayor Monahan to properly control the meeting and save time, by making this point clear.

If you want to know how Leece's requests will go and can't attend or watch the meeting, here's the result: THEY BOTH FAIL.  She has no real grounds for a rehearing and she knows it but is just grandstanding for her out of town supporters.

Watch as she puts on an act about how she's giving it a good try, but those evil other Council members just don't listen to people. Yawn.

  1. Hey Council majority, how much does it cost the City in staff time and taxpayer dollars each time Ms. Leece calls these up for re-hearing. Shouldn't there be rules? This is getting out of hand!
