This little tiff in the DP reminded me that after a minor argument I once had with a girlfriend, I said "Let's let sleeping dogs lie."
Well, after that, she wouldn't talk to me for months. I didn't know why and I couldn't figure out why she was mad at me.
Finally, after the ice broke a little,* I was able to finally pull it out of her** and unravel the fact*** that she thought I had called her a dog. Nothing could have been further from the truth. She was actually a very pretty airline stewardess.
And, in case anyone doesn't know, the idiom "Let's let sleeping dogs lie," simply means let's not start up the argument again and let's just move on past it; let's just let it alone.
*No, there was no ice that actually broke. It just means she started talking to me again, a little.
**No, I didn't actually pull it out of her, geez. See, this is just another idiom.
***Ah, no, the fact didn't actually unravel. You see, it means I got to the truth of the matter.
Mustn't let the dumb and poorly read among us misunderstand idioms.

There are so many murders of Whites by Blacks that we may have to start combining them all this way instead of featuring them one by one. However, if we were to that right now,
we'd be up all night just gathering the photos and short blurbs on each recent one and this would look like a phone book.
And, if we were to then do the same thing with White on Black murders we could cover them all in a few lines.
And, imagine, there are some self-hating Whites right here in Costa Mesa who don't want you to know about all these murders of Whites by Blacks. Why do you think that's the case?

you mean you can't teach an old dog new tricks? I read the link the deranged old man provided.......wow.....there is no wish for someone to be killed. I am not sure I followed it correctly, I saw no name in the fb post link, just ____________. is that his symbol? west should be sued for saying something like that. he just made up a death wish/threat and attributes it to a phrase that means nothing of the sort? I will contact the other side and offer free legal services. there are damages here.
ReplyDeleteMy impression of the Daily Pilot has been for a long time its run by petty liberals with low esteem. The notion of sharing credit or taking a tip and thanking someone for it is unthinkable.
