DAILY PILOT ARTICLE ON LACK OF A CMPD DUI TEAM
The article tells how the former DUI teams were responsible for arresting lots of DUI drivers.
How did they do it? The article is silent on this point.
Let me tell you my personal experience.
I don't drink alcohol. Period. I don't do drugs. Period. I'm a Carrie Nation dream.
I was stopped twice by the CMPD DUI experts. In both cases, my guess is that they were simply profiling drivers at certain times and in certain locations near bars and inventing reasons to stop the drivers.
In the first stop, I was on Baker Street a couple of miles from some bars. A cop pulled me over for no reason. When I asked why, he said I was impeding traffic. There actually was no other traffic on the road except the cop car and the CM PRESS MOBILE. He let me go about ten minutes later--after looking at my papers--with no ticket.
Another time, I was going south on Harbor by the Triangle and made a right turn on W. 19th Street. A cop pulled me over. I asked why he stopped me, and he said I had failed to stop at a red light before making a right turn. Nope, I had stopped. No doubt about it. It was a phony stop. He asked if I had been drinking. He sniffed close to my window. Looked in my eyes. I told him I don't drink. He let me go with no ticket.

Check back here after 5 P.M. today for the latest and final(?) vote count from the Registrar's office.
We've been saying from day 1 that Righeimer is the winner, but there is no certainty in these things, only probabilities, until all the votes are counted.

the big number that did change is the amount of votes left to count. it is way down from the 6K when the day started. around 50 left in whole county.
ReplyDeletePoint of order Robin Leffler: the MAYOR did get a mandate from the people, he was re elected. so before you go sniveling at next council meeting saying he didn't, think and save us the time of your comments. wake up and realize the people voted him back in despite your four year campaign against him. you did not have traction in the community. you did not get your mandate, the Mayor did.
