ELECTION RESULTS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE CERTIFIED TODAY

We'll check with the Registrar later today to see where things stand, but our expectation is that Mayor Righeimer will be certified as the winner.
This means it's all over unless within the next 5 days someone--and it could be another candidate or any citizen--asks for and pays for a recount. The Registrar has previously said that a full recount could cost between $ 8,000 and $10,000.
There is also the possibility of partial recounts, which would cost less, but it's doubtful they are worth whatever money they cost.
Frankly, we'd like to see some of the blow hard haters waste their money on a meaningless recount, because we don't think it would change the results much and perhaps Mayor Righeimer's lead would even increase by a vote or two. The probability that Jay Humphrey could make up a 47 vote deficit is about as low as it can be.
Some of the haters are now showing how incredibly stupid they are as they start mumbling about a recall. We kid you not. Please haters, please, please, try a recall. We want some more belly laughs as you anonymous creeps crawl out from under your rocks where you live with the other loathsome creatures and flail and flop around in the bright light like fish out of water.
And you weak seed scumbags and lonely old men and lonely old women who call the mayor a dictator please keep giving us laughs as we head into the next two year stretch before we get to elect even more people who will keep improving Costa Mesa.
Honestly, folks, some of these haters who own homes have no idea of cause and effect or how things work in the real world. They see their property values increase here in Costa Mesa and they simply can't seem to understand there is a reason for it. And, the reason for our property values increasing is that Costa Mesa is improving and it is becoming more desirable for upwardly mobile people.
When a city becomes more desirable, the homes in that city also become more desirable and when this happens supply and demand enter the picture in a positive way and demand begins to outpace the supply. Then, buyers compete for what is in limited supply. This drives up the price of homes. As the homes increase in price, they automatically have to attract buyers who have more money. Those with more money are often better educated than those with less money. This increases the quality of the people buying homes. It's an upward spiral.
Of course, at the other end of the spectrum we see cities such as Detroit where you can actually get homes for free or for just a few dollars. Yup. If you want to move to Detroit you can get a free home. Why? Detroit is a crime filled slum city. There is very low demand for homes in Detroit.
