Katrina Foley is already talking about compromise when she's sworn in
Of course, what she undoubtedly means is that she wants the improvement minded majority to give up their core beliefs and positions in order to placate her. Well, they don't have to placate you, Ms. Foley. You'll have no power on the dais.
The compromises that need to be made will be from you Ms. Foley. It's time you get on board the Improvement train and start working to make Costa Mesa the best almost coastal city in California with low crime, great schools, a high quality of life and the place where upwardly mobile people want to be and not the place they want to flee.
And, we suggest that you put on your big girl pants and work to get rid of the Mission-Mendoza slum--the alligator swamp in your backyard, Ms. Foley--so that homes in your neighborhood won't be burglarized any more and so the gangs in your neighborhood will move to other cities and so there will be no more shootings and murders in your neighborhood. Drain the swamp, Ms. Foley, drain the swamp!
The old rubric about a good and fair deal being reached when two opposing sides meet in the middle so that neither side gets all that it wants is nonsense given the results of this election.
The improvement minded majority on the council doesn't have to compromise with Foley's bad lefty ideas any more than they had to compromise with Leece's bad lefty ideas.

MOSQUITO EVOLUTION TO LIKE HUMAN BLOOD
At least one species of mosquito that feeds on humans has a variant of the Or4 gene that causes it to be attracted to a human scent caused by sulcatone. Sulcatone has a citrus odor and fruity taste.
Another thing to note in the above linked article (which is a toss away in the article) is the way this was discovered was by cross-breeding two different species of mosquitoes. This is simply more evidence that it is bad science to try to determine whether or not two organisms are of the same or different species based on whether or not they can breed together and produce viable offspring.
Furthermore, we know that Homo sapiens cross bred with Neanderthals--two different species--and produced viable offspring. In fact, most White Europeans owe around 2.6% or 2.7% of their DNA to Neanderthals.
Some will argue that the present major races of humans are not only not "races" but are actually different species and that each of these species has races within their species that often correspond to ancient nations or geographic areas of the planet.

Don't be a dead ender like some lonely old men and women. They are empty husks. Their lives are meaningless. They might as well not have been born at all.

We kid you not.
When what's his name came out here from Swellesley (not far from where I was born and grew up) and talked big, and went on a hiring binge we wondered how long it would take for the paper to get into trouble. It takes more than not knowing anything about the industry to run a newspaper, especially in this day of the internet.
