It's a nice looking project, but our Spidey sense is still tingling about the possibility that at some point the use could be changed to homeless and low income housing. It could happen a number of ways. For example, the project could be built out and then be sold to a non-profit to house homeless people. If this were to happen, we'd probably hear that, golly, they just couldn't rent out enough units at top prices and they simply had to switch plans to homeless housing and low income people, because, gee, it's not good for Costa Mesa to just leave a vacant apartment complex that would quickly be taken over by crack heads and various criminals, so homeless people and low income people would be better for Costa Mesa than just leaving it empty. And, by the way, don't worry about the homeless people and the low income people causing problems because the non-profit will also put in psychiatric, medical and other services--ah, all for the benefit of Costa Mesa, of course.
No, we don't have any evidence to back up the above possibility, but can that possibility be ruled out?

State agrees to allow repayment to city of $10.3 million
redevelopment loan

The City
of Costa Mesa will receive a payment of $782,983 in early June after the
state’s Department of Finance agreed last week that a $10.3-million loan that
the city made to its redevelopment agency was valid.
City
officials will be working with the state to determine a payment schedule for
the remainder of the loan.
Over the
past four decades, the city had loaned the Costa Mesa Redevelopment Agency money
and received payments on the loan. When the state dissolved redevelopment
agencies in 2012, it also looked at the validity of loans and other financial
transactions between cities and their redevelopment agencies.
In March
2013, the state’s Department of Finance sent a letter to Costa Mesa officials
stating that the loan payments had been disallowed. Costa Mesa officials
produced extensive documentation for the state to review the history of its
loan to the Costa Mesa Redevelopment Agency. In October 2013, the city filed a
lawsuit against the state seeking repayment of the loan.
“We are
pleased that the state made the right decision,” said City CEO Tom Hatch. “Our
staff worked incredibly hard to assemble 40 years’ worth of documents to
establish for the state the validity of the loan."

I caught a little of Sean Hannity's radio program yesterday. In the part that I heard, Hannity was telling listeners that Blacks and other non-Whites shouldn't be so sensitive to racial jokes because Hannity himself has heard Black comedians, including Chris Rock, make (hate) jokes about Whites and, golly, Hannity thinks they're funny. So, you see, since Hannity doesn't mind Blacks making fun of Whites, Blacks shouldn't mind Whites making fun of Blacks.Hannity then went on to opine that, golly, we're all just humans and we shouldn't be so sensitive, and, gosh, he likes Chris Rock a lot.
How very White of Hannity.
Let me explain my problem with such an attitude from low consciousness, PC conservative Whites such as Hannity.
What Hannity is doing is a form of noblesse oblige Whiteism, that causes harm to all Whites, whether they realize it or not.
It would be like a rich man saying that it's okay to make fun of the poor because when the poor make fun of the rich, the rich man thinks it's funny. In oher words, the 'superior' rich man or the 'superior' White Hannity, because of their superiority, should simply accept hate speech against those like them because the hate speech is coming from those who are inferior to them in one way or another and their hate speech should be overlooked by the superior ones as a product of inferior ones.
The reality is that not all Whites are in Hannity's position (gated, guarded home, etc.), and hate speech against Whites, even in jokes, has a corrosive effect on society and tends to psychologically enable other Blacks and non-Whites to violently act out their hate against ordinary Whites.

Why, if you read the liberal press, you'd think this never happens and that the real problem we have in society is caused by some White person or other who was reported third hand by someone who knew someone who knew someone who overheard the White tell the truth about Black violent hate crimes against Whites.
