TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS DOWN IN COSTA MESA
The CMPD received a $364,000 Selective Traffic Enforcement Program grant for fiscal year 2011 to be used to try to reduce the number of persons killed and injured in crashes involving alcohol, drugs, distractions, speed and red light violations.
The current grant runs out at the end of this month. Using those funds, the Traffic Safety Bureau conducted 20 DUI/Drivers license checkpoints with 24,927 vehicles going through the checkpoints and 13,168 drivers being screened. Approximately 4,900 traffic stops were conducted as part of the grant’s special operations.
Based upon available statistics thus far, speed related injury collisions are down 29% and red light related injury collisions are down 27% over last year’s figures. In the 2010 grant year, 748 people were injured in collisions in Costa Mesa compared to approximately 673 this year for a 10% reduction.

Costa Mesa declares itself a 'rule of law' community
The City Council resolution states that the central Orange County town 'is not a sanctuary city' and will uphold immigration laws.

The Costa Mesa City Council has voted unanimously to declare itself a "rule of law" community, further widening the divide over illegal immigration in the central Orange County city.
This week's resolution follows an April news conference in which Mayor Allan Mansoor called for stricter regulations to catch illegal immigrants living, working and driving in the city.

Mansoor said before Tuesday's meeting that the resolution "states that Costa Mesa is not a sanctuary city" and will uphold immigration laws.

Mansoor dismissed residents' comments as reckless, adding that they do not reflect "what's being introduced tonight." He said the resolution was aimed at setting the tone for a strong anti-illegal immigration policy both now and in the future.

Mansoor lied. This was all just show to set himself up for another job in Sacramento paid for by the people he left behind. He did nothing to reduce illegals here and he lied to you and you're still drinking his Kool-Aid.
To Anonymous: You obviously don't know Mansoor. The guy is the straightest arrow you'll ever meet. Did he want higher office? Sure he did, and he probably wants higher still. So what? Did he help with the illegal alien situation in Costa Mesa. Yup. But,we live in a democracy, and one guy can only do so much. Others have to take up the slack.
ReplyDelete"One guy can only do so much." You just gave a pass to Barack Hussein Obama and all the other politician liars. Stop defending him: He had a council majority and still did nothing to reduce illegals. You go ahead and vote for the do-nothing who has lived his adult life on the public payroll, we're going elsewhere.
