CM PRESS # 624

THE AMAZING ADVENTURES OF SUPER HERO MS. CONCERNED

In the 1999 movie Mystery Men, about a group of odd super-heroes, Ben Stiller plays the part of Mr. Furious whose one super  power is to be able to look really, really angry.

That's it.  Mr. Furious has no strength, he can't fly, can't breathe under water, he can't run fast, can't make himself invisible, can't shoot ray beams out of his eyes and he can't fight his way out of the proverbial paper bag.

All Mr. Furious can do is look really angry.

His face gets beet red, veins  pop out of his forehead and his muscles tense up, but that's it. [Digression:  When I was in the Marines we used to say of such people that they had battleship mouths but rowboat muscles.]

That reminds us of Wendy Leece.  No one can look more concerned while on the dais than Wendy.  Give her a pair of tights and a cape and she could be MS. CONCERNED!

Watch Wendy's face whenever anyone goes to the podium to talk about barking dogs or pot holes or the noise from a lawn mower.

Wendy will look as though this is the most important thing she's ever heard. From the concerned look on her face, you'd think the person at the podium had just said that his or her house had been attacked by Godzilla.

Now, this makes people think that Wendy really does share their pain. Maybe she does. But does she do anything to solve the problems?  Maybe sometimes. We're not sure. We think she just mostly shows concern. Period.

Because of the concerned expression on Wendy's face, some people think Wendy is good for Costa Mesa and they then turn a blind eye to the things that Wendy is doing that harm us all in the long run: like voting for union contracts that are putting us in the poor house or trying to stop Costa Mesa from right sizing or from setting the right priorities.

And as far as the Westside goes, Wendy hasn't initiated any improvements over there that we're aware of, even though she has lived there for many years.  Well, actually, she lives in one of the few, or maybe only, gated communties in Costa Mesa and might as well be living in Beverly Hills.

Notwithstanding the above, we like Wendy.  Really. We're not kidding. Yes, we have an emotional side as well as a rational side.  All too human are we.

We share the common human fraility of liking people who show concern for our concerns. However, just as soon as we think along those emotional lines, the rational part of our brain kicks in and we're able to scratch the surface a little deeper and that's where we have a problem with some of the things that Wendy does or fails to do.

Still, we keep hoping that Wendy will see the light and will become a strong advocate for better government and for the improvement of the Westside  before her term is up.

Well, we can hope.

GAGGLE OF SHRUNKEN BRAIN LIBS & LEFTIES

Before watching the Costa Mesa City Council meeting tomorrow night, be sure to read the full OC REGISTER article below on the worker's comp claims made by Costa Mesa's...er..."loyal," "hardworking," "best in the state," workers.

And, be sure to note the names of the usual shrunken brain libs and lefty bootlicker, status quo, suck-ups who  crawl out from under their rocks to slime their way up to the podium to whine (hold your nose to get the right tone here):

"Stop the layoffs." "We have the bestest employees in the whole, wide, Trust In God, bestest City (like our schools that have low API scores, but lots of effusive adjectives attached to them by this same numbnut crowd) in the world, and anyone who wants to right size gummint, save citizen money, and get our priorities straight must be meanies."

Honestly folks, some of the people who constantly mouth these stupid cliches at every City Council meeting are so dumb it's a wonder they can even find City Hall. Many of these  half-dead, mice-people look like they just sucked on a lemon and have shoes that are too tight and underwear that itches.

We get the most chuckles from the Chicken Littles--the morons who constantly go from one hysterical crisis to the next over things that never turn out as they, in their tiny warped brains, think they will.

"The sky is falling! The sky is falling! Costa Mesa is no longer going to have it's own expensive helicopter program."

"An extra day of fireworks?  Oh no! Costa Mesa will burn to the ground."

" Oh no! Cutting back on the police department will lead to criminals flocking to Costa Mesa to rape and pillage."

"Oh no, who is going to take care of us if the gummint gets right sized?"

"COSTA MESA FIREFIGHTER GOT $39,590 BECAUSE HIS WORK BOOTS HURT HIS FEET ONE WEEK" (OC REGISTER)

"A recreation leader who felt pain in the neck while shooting a basketball is costing the city $7,325." (OC REGISTER)

"A police officer with acid reflux and digestive problems got an award of $27,777." (OC REGISTER)

Be sure to read the whole OC REGISTER article on the worker's comp payments being made to  Costa Mesa's mostly out of town employees--there are about 1,000 claims since 2001.

  2. CM Press, is Wendy really concerned and just to dumb to be able to do anything about our situation, or does she feign concern and join up with the unions to have a good laugh at all of us.

Wendy epitomizes a lack of leadership. She says our problems need fixing by Sacramento, not Costa Mesa. Yet, Sacramento has made clear it won't solve the problem. So, in Wendy's mind she's done her part. She will simply sit around for 3 more years, say we need to work together, and accomplish nothing.

The ultimate irony with Wendy is that she did the exact opposite on immigration. When people told her it was a federal issue, she refused, and worked on the Costa Mesa level. When it's pension reform, she flip flops and says it's a problem we can't fix.

Where is your leadership Wendy? Come out from behind the protection of the union thug bosses and lead us!!

  3. There's some great photos of Ms. Leece shilling for the union this weekend at their "solidarity" picnic over on the "Steaming Crackpot" blog. It is so sad how the out of town union is using her and continuing to use Huy Pham for their politics.

I think Weathervane Wendy's teeth are brighter than she is.
