CM PRESS # 634

Sign used by some out of town CMPD
officers during the last election.

IT'S TIME TO HOOP IT UP?
(And forget that we're a Rule of Law City?)

In the September 23rd CEO E-Briefing (HERE) we read that the Costa Mesa Police Department is going to join with some local churches and a local charity named MIKA in a community event to be held in the tax payer supported and citizen owned Downtown Community Center for...er...the "community."

Read on, dear astute citizen reader, and see if the notion comes unbidden to your mind that "the community," might actually be a euphemism for, er....(well, you can decide for yourself).

For starters and for more details on this MIKA/CMPD event, go HERE. As you can see, MIKA talks about ITS NEIGHBORHOODS. HERE'S a list of these benighted neighborhoods (Baker St./Center St./Maple Ave./Shalimar Drive).

Correct us if we're mistaken, but aren't these the very selfsame neighborhoods known to have many suspected illegal aliens living there, along with the gangs spawned from them, along with day workers, along with high crime levels?

Well, let's quickly move on. As you probably know, MIKA is headed by Crissy Brooks who lately has been penning a weekly column for the Daily Pilot in which she or someone else is often crying [HERE, & HERE].

Ms. Brooks was raised in Mesa Verde, but apparently due to a plethora of compassion she has now travelled on a mission to the far reaches of the Third World and now lives on Shalimar Drive.

You may recall that Ms. Brooks wrote an article (HERE) after some illegal aliens from Shalimar were arrested and deported. And, as you can see, Ms. Brooks tells readers of  another crying session:

"I cried with the men [the deported illegal aliens] as I sat in a hotel room in Tijuana explaining that the church in Costa Mesa is standing with them and their families."

In that column, Brooks also writes that  "By Monday, I had six out of the 11 families whose husbands were arrested asking me for help."

Yes, the rent was coming due.

So how would these families, who did not just go back to Mexico to live with their husbands and fathers who had been arrested and deported, find a way to pay the rent and remain comfortable and loved in Costa Mesa?  Brooks tells us:

"Churches, individuals and companies have pitched in to make up the short fall in rent for this week."

Let's see if we can figure this out.  Eleven illegal alien men were arrested and deported, and six of the families (the majority) of the criminals went to Brooks seeking help.

Again, please correct us if we're mistaken, but is the picture that seems to be emerging one of MIKA apparently helping illegal aliens and their families feel comfortable and wanted in Costa Mesa?  Isn't that a reasonable conclusion from the things Ms. Brooks has written?

If that's a true picture, then why is the CMPD  going to join with Brooks and the church and, ah, "community members," to play basketball and have a swell time? And, not only that, but  why is the CEO E-Briefing paid for by the citizens of Costa Mesa actually providing PR for this event?

And, are the cops and any other city personnel involved in this going to be paid by citizens for this schmoozing?  Also, who is paying for the use of the Downtown Community Center?

Throw this into the mix:  Is Costa Mesa really a "rule of law city," (this term means immigration laws will be upheld) or a wink and nod city that says one thing and does the opposite when the cops and City Hall want to schmoze with suspected illegal alien criminals to make them feel welcome in Costa Mesa?

Perhaps someone at City Hall--say Bill Lobdell--can help citizens thread their way through what appear to be mixed messages.  Are illegal aliens welcome in Costa Mesa or are they not welcome?  Will the cops arrest them, or will they not arrest them?
