That's what you get from lefties. Odd, isn't it, that here in Costa Mesa we have some cops who support the lefties and vice versa?

CITY COUNCIL TO DISCUSS GIVING YOUR MONEY TO CHARITIES TODAYEvery year, Costa Mesa gets some of our money back from the Feds in the form of Community Development Block Grants (CDBG).
This year, that 15% will be about $ 204,190.
Our suggestion is that this money not be given to the charities, but that it be used to improve infrastructure on the Westside.
Here's how the charity scam has been working year after year
I was on the 3R Committee. That's the committee that prepares the recommendations, as to which charities get your money, that will be presented to the City Council today.
As members of the 3R Committee, we were never given the option to recommend that the Council use that money for infrastructure.
The 3R Committee members are herded and told that their job is to just try to find the most worthy charities and decide how much to give them.
As a result, the 3R Committee never gives recommendations to the Council to use the money as it should be used--for Westside infrastructure repair.
To get around this set stage herding, I would then go, year after year, as an individual, to the City Council, and suggest that they use the money for infrastructure and not give a penny to charities which are acting as magnets to keep the City downscale.
And, year after year, Councilmembers would smile and say something like: "Well, Mr. Millard, the 3R Committee has worked hard to make recommendations, and we want to honor their hard work by following their recommendations."
And, inevitably there would be some lefty on the Council who would say that the money is for the kids.
So, dear reader, if you wonder why the Westside, including the area around the library is full of transients and illegal aliens, and has gangs and other problems, you have part of the answer.
Let me state it clearly: The charities that act as magnets are made to feel welcome and are given your money--which mostly goes into salaries of charity bosses (some in the $200,000 per year range).

Those are our opinions. Thanks for reading them.
My family does not give money to charities because we have noticed the same thing. The money you give ends up in the pockets of the officers. That's one of the reasons no one has ever discovered a cure for cancer, or any other major disease.
ReplyDeleteI wish the 3R Committee would require any charity applying for the City's CDBG monies be properly reviewed & rated by CharityNavigator.org BEFORE recommending to grant public funds to any non-profit organization.
ReplyDeleteCharity Navigator will review & rate charities with additional metrics, so as to asses a charity's commitment to accountability & transparency by providing an in-depth analysis for potential donors (i.e. taxpayers).
The 3R committee could then review any pre-screened grant applicants, and require the non-profits to mitigate any & all "challenges" before giving their recommendation to City Council Members.
By the way, Councilman Righeimer should recuse himself from voting on this item due to a conflict of interest. He's a Mercy House Board Member which is requesting a significant grant from the City Council. Therefore, I sincerely hope that he refrains from voting on this specific item, so as to not unnecessarily discredit his good intentions & public image.
"I contend this is a sports story only because it occurred outside a ballpark. The two men who beat Stow are thugs first, baseball fans second. Their motivation had nothing to do with sports; Stow’s Giants jersey was merely the avenue they chose to display their subhuman tendencies. They went after him because he was there; his affiliation to the Giants was just the excuse." - Tim Keown
