ONE IN SEVEN AMERICANS LIVES IN POVERTY
Link
Hey, let's have a War on Poverty. That should solve the problem. We'll make all sorts of high sounding speeches and we'll pretend that nature isn't the way it is.
Oh, wait a minute. We tried that and it didn't work. In fact, we now have more poverty than ever.
Here's the truth: If we ever want to solve human problems, we have to understand nature and its ways and in particular we have to understand humans and not shrink from the reality that genes matter.
The War on Poverty failed because it had the wrong mind set about the nature of reality and the reality of nature. It was all feel good nonsense.
Why is this important now? Because Obama is making the same mistakes as Lyndon Johnson made.
Obama, and seemingly many of those in his administration appear to be locked into false views about the way things work in our universe.
A single false idea about reality can have major negative effects. Don't get it? Here's a really simple example of how a false idea can have bad results. Get the idea into your mind that the gas pedal in your car is the same as your brake pedal and then go out and take a drive.
Let us know how it turns out. The reality is that a gas pedal is a gas pedal and a brake pedal is a brake pedal, and no amount of thinking just the opposite will change them.
It is this way with the affairs of man, but the connections are more difficult to see and especially for those who have been conditioned to believe that all humans are the same. It isn't so, and no amount of hoping is going to change it.
Oh, and just to be clear. You can't do anything you set your mind to and you can't be anything you want to be in life. Sorry, but we're all different and we all have different abilities. Many of the differences and abilities we have are part of us from birth.
Nature just isn't very PC and it doesn't care what we believe and it doesn't change because of silly cliches that come into currency and then get repeated mindlessly.

WHY ARE COSTA MESA CITIZENS PUTTING MONEY INTO THE POCKETS OF SOME SO-CALLED NON-PROFIT BUSINESS BOSSES?
According to this report (Here), some so-called non-profit (non-city) sports teams (Called Group 1 users) receive free rent to the tune of $816,525 yearly on sports fields in Costa Mesa.
Here's the rub, the organizers of these non-profit teams charge their players to be members of the teams and they also charge for uniforms, etc. So, why can't these organizers (including some who don't live in Costa Mesa) cough up some reasonable rent for the use of our fields?
Why are they just pocketing the money they get? Why are citizens of Costa Mesa, who have no interest in their sports, being forced to subsidize their so-called non-profit businesses? Hmmmmm?
It's a scam, folks and you're paying for it.
When you hear parents of kids say they need the after school ROCKS program for their kids but that the City doesn't have the money to pay for ROCKS, remember that if the city charged these so-called non-profit sports teams a reasonable rent, there would be money for ROCKS and for other uses as well.
As we've written before, the City Council needs to redo the way we let some so-called non-profits use our fields.
And, also as we've written before, the way the present rules are written, Osama Bin Laden could apply for the free use of our fields and the City Council would have no realistic way to stop him!
Guess what? The City's Recreation Division (these are city employees)--and this is no surprise to us--is asking the Parks and Recreation Commission (these are regular citizens appointed by the City Council) to just "receive and file" this report that is linked to above. "Receive and file" means to throw the report in a file cabinet somplace and forget about it.
That's the way it is with the City's Recreation Division. They often seem to be out of control, and we've written about this over the years.
The CM PRESS is calling on the Parks and Recreation Commission to not receive and file this report--as requested by the City's Recreation Division--but to send it to the City Council with a recommendation to take action to change the way Group 1 users are handled. We would like to see the Council take back the right to deny the free use of our fields without explanation, and we'd like to see the Council enact some reasonable fees for the rent of our fields.
Don't be confused about "non-profit." "Non-profit" doesn't mean someone isn't making money. And, those who are organizing these events are making money. Their business plan is to get free rent for their businesses.
So, again, why should they get free rent on our fields?
Also, don't be confused and think we're talking about our regular City and School sports teams-they should get free use of the fields as they do now, and some Group 1 teams may also pass muster for reduced rental use, but all should pay a fair share out of the fees they charge their players.
Remember, we're talking about non-profit businesses.

SEN. JIM DEMINT ON THE GOP: "I DON'T WANT THE MAJORITY BACK IF WE DON'T BELIEVE ANYTHING."
Link
Demint has it right. There are too many phonies in the GOP (in the Dem party also, but that's for someone else to point out in more detail), who simply want any Republican to win even if the Republican has no core values.
The Tea Party is saying the same thing that Demint and many of us grass roots Republicans have been saying for years. We don't need candidates whose only principle is that they want to win and remain in office no matter what they have to do.
