What is happening now in the Middle East with ISIL would be called Biblical for the sea changes that the group may bring in if the group were Christian. It remains to be seen if the Caliph can unite all Muslims of all sects, and that really will be the proof in the pudding of his lasting influence. So far, he just has some Sunni Muslims with him. Bridging the gap with some other Muslim sects will be even more difficult than--in terms we are more familiar with--bridging the gap between Mormons and Fundamentalist Christians who don't like Mormons at all and consider them non-Christian.

OC REGISTER ARTICLE ABOUT HOW PUBLIC SAFETY IS DEVOURING THE BUDGETS OF MANY OC CITIES
The article may be behind the Register's pay wall, so you may have to subscribe to read about how cities are being drained of their money because of public safety expenses--mostly personnel costs.
However, there is one bright note in the article about Costa Mesa and the credit for this positive news goes to the Righeimer Council. Here it is from the article:
"Two years ago, Costa Mesa and its firefighters agreed to a deal that restructured the department, eliminated a “minimum staffing requirement” that critics said maximized staffing, and is expected to save millions of dollars, officials said.
"After hitting a high of $69.7 million for public safety in 2009, Costa Mesa’s costs dropped to $58.2 million in 2013. The city saw just a 26 percent increase over the decade."
You can thank Mayor Righeimer, Mayor Pro Tem Mensinger and Councilmember Monahan for those savings.
What is not mentioned in the article--but should have been--is how additional millions of dollars have been saved in Costa Mesa by getting rid of the police hobby helicopter --also by the Righeimer Council--and taking officers out of joy riding around with the likes of Wendy Leece to let her see fireworks from the air. These officers are now back on the ground where they can do the most good and where they can actually physically collar bad guys, instead of just watching them from high above.
And, remember, it was primarily Mayor Righeimer who was the spark plug to get things moving and keep them moving even after he was the victim of underhanded attempts to get him to stop trying to get our budget under control and our city improved.
And, in spite of all the good things that the Righeimer Council is doing,the haters continue to attack the mayor and the mayor pro tem, and to a lesser degree Councilmember Monahan with attempted smears and hate speech.
Let the haters know you want none of their hate. Tell them you want to see Costa Mesa move forward and improve. Tell them that if they don't want an improved Costa Mesa, they can move to Santa Ana. It's just down the road, and there they can experience the nightly shootings and stabbings that are now not so common in Costa Mesa thanks to the improvements that are attracting upwardly mobile people back to our city.

THIS JUST IN--A PHOTO OF THOSE WHO DON'T LIKE THE MEN ON THE CITY COUNCIL AND WHO ONLY LIKE MEN WHO ACT LIKE WOMENAnyone who reads the hate comments in the Daily Pilot and elsewhere by those who want to stop the improvement of Costa Mesa has to be struck by the fact that it is mostly certain types of women who make those comments.
Oh, there are a few sensitive men--call them mouse men--who also join the, ah, ladies but most real men don't want to have anything to do with these sensitive men and feel they need to take showers after even coming close to them.
You know the type. They don't like direct answers. They don't like decisiveness. They don't like self-assurance. They don't like self-esteem. They don't like confidence. They incorrectly read these characteristics as arrogance and rudeness, which actually reflects on their own personal lack of such characteristics and their various neuroses.
These neurotics don't want city leaders. They want therapists and girlfriends who they can share their feelings with. The city could be falling off a cliff, and these types would hate anyone to take action to stop it unless they shared their feelings for several months and listened to them after they troop to the podiums at city hall to say blah, blah, blah, blah, and blah, blah and "why won't you listen to us? and blah, blah, blah, blah, and "why are you so mean?" and blah, blah, blah, blah, sniff, sniff, waaaaaaa!!!!

The propaganda sound bites coming out of the U.S. government for many years are often just as silly as Obama's claim that ISIL is not Islamic.
Remember Bush saying radical Muslims hated us because of our "freedom." Absurd. And, with Bush, even more than with Obama, it was embarrassing to see him try to link things during his speeches to carefully selected ordinary Americans, usually in the audience.
