We think the answer is simple: The Democrats promised a chicken in every pot and the Republicans didn't.
We wrote the same thing before the election.
You may have heard Rush Limbaugh and his followers recently railing against the welfare state and similar things in this post election season and you have probably heard other Republicans saying we have to reach out to minorities.
We say both camps are wrong. Both groups are out of touch. Both don't understand human psychology.
The Republicans need to learn that most people believe that a government that they support with their taxes, should return the favor. At the CM PRESS we see nothing wrong with this.
After all, why even have a government if it doesn't help the people of the country who pay for that government?
So you Republicans want to do away with Obamacare? Okay, come up with a plan that promises to help people in need who get sick. Don't just say you'll do away with it.
You want to help people financially? Don't just give them high sounding phrases; offer concrete solutions.
You want to reach minorities? Well, don't pander to them. Treat them as human beings who want the best for themselves and their families and get rid of your stiff ways and mannerisms and be human.
Too many Republicans lack people skills. They seem cold and distant and bloodless.
If the GOP wants to win again, they're going to have to put away those expensive suits and country club manners and, ah, get down with the little people.
Ronald Reagan was a success because he was in touch with the little people.

With Peter Naghavi retiring, we're losing one of the very best public employees in this city. Maybe the best.
Naghavi is the guy who knows where all the light switches are in City Hall and every other switch, lever or way to get a job of any kind done in any part of the City.
The CM PRESS was rooting for Naghavi to become the Assistant CEO, and we believe if that had happened, Naghavi wouldn't now be retiring. But, that's just our opinion and Peter has never said anything like that to us.
You know how it is in a business of just about any size where there is always someone who just quietly makes sure everything is greased and working right and that there's toilet paper in the restrooms and light bulbs are replaced and everything just works right--even though this isn't really that person's responsibility-- but no one ever really thinks about who is making everything work right? But then when that person, is on vacation or has retired, lots of little and big things just start going wrong and no one knows why.
Naghavi is that guy in Costa Mesa, but on a higher executive level.
