CM PRESS # 44

SPEAKING OF IMPROVING THE WESTSIDE--WHICH WE DO IN THE COLUMNS BELOW...

At its next meeting (11/20), the City Council will vote on  a contract with a landscape architect to come up with ideas for improving W. 19th Street [HERE].   Hopefully, the good Council members will approve the contract.

We have our fingers crossed that the landscape architect will come up with some good plans and that the Council will move quickly to fund  those plans and make them a reality.

THE KEY TO IMPROVING ALL OF COSTA MESA IS THE WESTSIDE

Maybe it's time to once again clearly state why we first started publishing the CM PRESS.

Back in the late 90's, we became aware of gang and crime problems in Costa Mesa, and we also became aware that our Council members at that time were in denial and especially about the gangs.

One Council member even used to try to convince people that there were no gangs in Costa Mesa and that what we were seeing was just youths dressed like gang members and acting like gang members.

Then, we had a gang killing at the Taco Bell on the corner of Harbor and Wilson.  Soon, there were more gang crimes and still the Council at that time was in denial.  Active denial.

So, we began looking into what was really going on in Costa Mesa.

It soon became apparent that most of the crime and gang problems were linked in one way or another to slum apartments and illegal aliens mostly on the Westside.  We also saw links with some of the charities that were concentrated on the Westside.

To help get things fixed, we began publishing the CM PRESS and we started taking time away from our family to attend many City Council meetings and speaking out.

That was essentially the start of the Improvement movement--a very loosely organized group of citizens who wanted to drive down crime and take back Costa Mesa from the criminals and also from the out of towners who were often contributing in one way or another to the downscale conditions.

Eventually, our efforts and those of many others who joined in, led to the Westside Plans (that you can access over on the right of this page) and these efforts also led to the election of several Council members who the Improvers believed would help with Improvement and who we had hoped would implement the Westside Plans.

Wendy Leece was one of those people we helped elect who we thought would help with improvement.  Unfortunately, we were very wrong about Wendy, and her eight years on the Council have really just been a wasted seat for improvement.

The hope of most Improvers right now is that Righeimer, Mensinger and Monahan, will understand the importance of improving the Westside as the key to improving the whole city.  And, so far, these three do seem to be encouraging the improvement of the infrastructure of the Westside as well as in other parts of the city; and it is this improvement of the infrastructure which is critically important to improving the Westside.

But, what do we mean by this?  We simply mean that we need to improve the appearance of  the Westside and especially W. 19th Street so that it will be attractive to upwardly mobile citizens and the businesses that they frequent.  This will cause a general uplifting of home values and other things as well.

Like attracts like.  When you have an area that looks nice, you'll attract people who have pride in the area and who will work to keep it looking nice.  The opposite is also true.  Again, like attracts like.

Wendy emoting with pursed lips.
WENDY LEECE AGAIN SHOWS HOW OUT OF TOUCH SHE IS AS SHE EMOTES IN THE DAILY PILOT

Be sure to read Wendy's comments following the article about Stephens conceding the election to Monahan HERE.

In her comments, Wendy sounds delusional as she tries to push the idea that the citizens of Costa Mesa have given Wendy and Sandy Genis some sort of mandate because Genis was elected.

Ah, Wendy, if you knew anything about local politics you'd know that in a three seat election, libs and/or a woman will usually get one seat.  It really is a 2/3--1/3 situation that often plays out in such elections.

Also, you will remember that all three of your candidates had the best positions on the ballot.

Stephens was number one, Weitzberg was number two and Genis was number three.  On a vote for 3  ballot, you can count on a lot of  lazy votes going to the top three, and since your top three were linked as an ersatz slate, there is nothing to crow about when two lost.

You will also remember, Wendy, that the employee unions, in trying to put another puppet on the Council to keep giving huge salaries and benefits to these employees, spent thousands of dollars to try to elect your three candidates and defeat Measure V.  So, it wasn't some spontaneous uprising of ordinary citizens who voted in Genis and voted down V.  To think it was, is absurd.

In her comments, Wendy knocks right sizing our local government and she knocks the charter as she gushes that "we" (who's "we") don't want our city to be reinvented.

Wendy has been a big waste of a seat on the Council.  She lives in a gated community on the Westside and is out of touch with the problems of the area.  Instead of trying to help improve the Westside, Wendy has spent her years on the dais praising charities that are helping keep the area downscale and she's never tried to implement the Westside Plans.

ANOTHER ARTICLE IN THE REGISTER ABOUT COSTA MESA'S HOMELESS PROBLEM

Folks, Costa Mesa doesn't have a homeless problem, it has a pathological altruist problem and a problem with an over concentration of charity businesses that attract and keep homeless people and illegal aliens in the area where they can get the freebies.

As we've written before, the charities have a profitable (for the charity bosses) business model:

Just attract more and more people to Costa Mesa to use the services and you (as a charity boss) get to keep your cushy job.

And, you'll also be lauded in the Daily Pilot for your kind compassion.

Of course, you'll make so much money that you won't have to live near your charity businesses and the unsafe conditions that you are helping create.  And, when citizens who do live near the problems complain, you can have some of your free volunteers from Newport Beach write nasty letters to the Daily Pilot about how heartless these citizens are.

  1. Wendy is delusioal as usual. One of the regulator commentors said the "war" is still on. Let's see if they continue to stop democracy by constantly speaking on every item with the same thought by ten speakers. Wendy calls Genis a "long time friend". Uh....must have been a secret friend and Wendy fooled us all when we ran her with Mansoor instead of running Fisler. If she liked Genis then she would not have been chosen. Genis has long been known as an enviro whacko along with Debbie Cook. Mansoor would never have run with her.

  2. denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance. Leece has gotten over the first two, hopefully she moves on.
Fuqua is stuck at anger ("war")
Genis is in a good place after having lost her last two runs for office.
Alf is still in denial I would suspect, she didn't immediately comment as usual. Ridge has no clue what is even happening so is immune.
