COSTA MESA MAY HAVE TO MAKE CUTBACKS BECAUSE OF PENSION COSTS

And, the first place Costa Mesa should start cutting in on the fifth floor of City Hall.  There are just too many chiefs and they're not needed.  I'll say it again.  They're not needed.

When Allan Roeder was the City Manager the fifth floor didn't have as many chiefs and things ran fine for the residents of this city. Now, we have paper pushers and assistant paper pushers and assistants to the assistant paper pusher all trying to look busy.

If I have one major complaint about the good councilmembers it is about this proliferation of highly paid paper pushers.

FREE SPEECH IN AUSTRIA?  NOPE!

Where are the Pam Geller's of the world demanding free speech in Germany and Austria?  Oh, right, they're the ones demanding that non-Jewish Whites NOT have free speech.

POLLSTERS IN GREAT BRITAIN HAVE EGG ALL OVER THEIR FACES IN STUNNING ELECTION YESTERDAY

Right up until the election, most (I think "all," but I'll stick with a fudging"most") of the polls in Great Britain got it wrong.

Then, when the exit polls started coming in after the election, everyone was in shock and couldn't believe the results (The CM PRESS watched live via the Internet).

We've seen polls and prognosticators right here in Costa Mesa get things as wrong as the pollsters in Great Britain got it wrong yesterday.

You may recall how Chris Steel, who had run for the city council 9 times and lost, suddenly--with the help of the Improvers--won on his tenth run, and with more votes than anyone else running that year.

The newspapers and prognosticators couldn't believe it.  In fact, as I've written before, after I urged Steel to run and suggested to him that we had a strategy for a win, I called Dana Rohrabacher's office to see if we could get an endorsement for Steel and they just about fell on the floor laughing and told me they "don't back candidates who are going to lose."

Sounds like good news.  Now, let's see if they deliver or get squishy.
