THE DG TRAIL WAS TO PREVENT INJURY TO CHILDREN

The above linked article is about a couple of young kids who were found floating in backyard pools.

These incidents didn't happen in Costa Mesa, but they should serve as a reminder that children don't often understand the danger that may be present in various situations and that pools of water and various other things around us are often attractive nuisances that draw kids to them.

During all the talk about the DG trail in Fairview Park, we read constant moronic comments from some of the usual haters who said things such as: "Well, I walked that trail when it had no DG and I wasn't injured," or "The trail didn't look dangerous to me." or "No one was ever injured there before."

 Folks, that's just about what people say or think after young kids drown in backyard pools: "Oh, I didn't think it was dangerous." And, they might also think or say:  "I was in that pool, and I didn't drown," or "No one ever drowned there before."

The reality is that many people are simply too stupid to see potential danger and thus don't act
to prevent the danger.  It is that way with people who criticize the DG Trail Phantoms who acted to protect kids and it is that way with people who are too stupid to see the danger potential of pools and young kids--even though we read constantly about young kids drowning in such pools.

Face it, not everyone is as smart or as discerning as everyone else.

The Mayor's Award should be given to the DG Trail Phantoms.

Just as we predicted.  We said if it went the distance, it would be Mayweather on points.  The guy dances and fights cute and racks up points.  Pacquiao should have read our columns on fighting the genes and not the man and he might have won.
