A few of the haters, however, are trying to spin things with red herrings and old false narratives.
Some are even using the appeal to authority fallacy to try to convince voters that since one of our former temporary chiefs, Steve Staveley, said nasty things when he quit that this shows that the good councilmembers are bad for the city. This is BS.
What they forget to tell you is that Stavely is a liberal Democrat who actually ran for mayor of Anaheim (before he came to Costa Mesa) with strong union and liberal Democrat support.
It was foreseeable that someone with Staveley's background would not like a conservative Republican majority that is trying to save taxpayer money and right size local government.
Given this foreseeability, one has to wonder why he was even hired in the first place, and some might even wonder if he was intentionally hired by some who are sneakily trying to undermine the good councilmembers.

Who in the hell vetted this guy before turning the CMPD over to him?
Couldn't it have been anticipated that he would fight the City Council and the citizens of Costa Mesa and be for the unions and out of town union employees?

UPDATE 5/29/15: It's getting hilarious as some of the haters scramble over what to write or say over the appointment of the new police chief.
There's dead silence from some of the most frequently commenting blowhards. There are also attempts at diversion from some others (as indicated above), and now some (and some of these are also the diverters) are now realizing that there's nothing they can do about the appointment so they want to be on the good side of the new chief and they're now saying his selection is a good thing.
Of course, by doing so, they are putting themselves at odds with their buddies, the few bad cops who are still in the department and who frequently comment under phony names on a hate blog.
It's funny to watch these low IQ haters turn themselves into pretzels over this.

Smart White parents are pulling their kids out of jungle schools and putting them in schools where most of the students look like them, act like them and think like them.

first of all , Stavely was a joke, who had a meltdown on his way out and was replaced within 2 hours. not days, hours. in other words he was given the chance to "resign" or be fired. because, as a liberal democrat, he bashed the good republicans, the haters automatically think he was a good chief. what did he do other than meltdown? he will never hold another job, that is for sure. what an idiot.

Sharpnack gets it that no one should be set up by the pd. the haters don't get that somehow. so he apologized to the good councilmen and their families for enduring this abuse of power. I think the pd union will end up paying around 200K for this in the end. anyway, bright new day in the city. now that "sommer" is just around the corner I notice a former female councilmember from a decade ago is now chiming in against the good councilmen. she of course , along with Steel, is a rarity. an incumbent defeated for reelection to council. even though she some firemen all they wanted according to what is being "spread" around the gossip circles. ask her husband at the time for confirmation, just rumors? speaking of badge bunnies, eh, not bunnies but old rabbits, what will the current crop do?
