COSTA MESA...

OUR LETTER TO THE DAILY PILOT TODAY

Dear Daily Pilot:

The Daily Pilot is running a column today in which several offensive  racial epithets and negative portrayals of Whites, as a racial group, are used.  Did this column just slip by everybody over there?  Here's what I wrote about this on my blog today:

DAILY PILOT RUNS  COLUMN IN WHICH THE  TERMS 'LILY-WHITE,' 'WHITE WASH' AND 'OLDEST AND WHITEST OF THE OLD WHITE BOYS CLUB' APPEAR

It seems the writer is upset that the anti-White film Selma, which is flopping at the box office, didn't get any Oscar nods for its actors.

Would the Pilot have run a column if someone wrote a column and used the terms "Coal-Black," "Black Wash," and "Oldest and Blackest of the old Black Boys club"?

Meanwhile...

The LA TIMES (that owns the Daily Pilot)  has a column today that complains about the racial epithet "Redskins," as a name for a football team.

So, "Lilly-White, White Wash, "Oldest and Whitest of the Old White Boys Club," are okay, but "Redskins," is not okay?

City Council meeting tonight

Will the Mensinger majority do the right thing and appoint the right people to the three commissions or will the two lefties on the council get some of their improvement obstructionists and trouble makers on the commissions?

Remember, it is more important that people selected are for true improvement than what their resumes say.

And as to the reality that a leopard can't change it's spots, recall how city staff hired a temporary police chief who was a lefty politician and how this guy then showed his true colors by resigning and slamming the good councilmembers.

Why did city staff even hire this guy?  A LEOPARD CAN'T CHANGE ITS SPOTS. PERIOD!  The same principle applies tonight with the appointments to the three commissions.

Appoint people who have an improvement philosophy.  Don't appoint haters and their ilk.

  1. I agree with you on commission appointments. I have no concern that our improvement majority will fold and appoint anyone who has trashed them for months or years at public comments or from the dais itself. there may be a couple applicants who we know nothing about but I don't think we will see a risk taken with them. oh, one of them may get appointed but , if so, I believe they have already been interviewed in depth by someone on the majority. after Righeimer took a chance with the "lady" he appointed to Fairview parks committee and saw her waste time by counting how many women or minorities were on the committee rather than just do committee work there is no way a chance will be taken on a commission which is much more important than a committee. the unknowns who show promise can be vetted on a committee level first to see if they are there for political reasons or to actually do the work of the committee. that said, some commissioners are still just button pushers. we need agenda setters and I mean major agenda setters . there is enough improvement that can be done that we should be seeing new ideas studied monthly, not just voting on staff reports. make a strategic plan and start implementing it.
