SHOULD COSTA MESA HAVE A FIVE PERSON CIVILIAN POLICE COMMISSION?
In Costa Mesa we have a Planning Commission, a Parks and Recreation Commission, and soon we will have a Senior Citizens Commission.
Why not have a Police Commission composed of ordinary citizens? Many cities have such commissions and the precedent is actually set nationally in our U.S. Constitution that puts civilians in control of our military.
You will divine that police departments are an ersatz military writ small, so why not have civilians in control?
