WALTER E. WILLIAMS:  INTELLECTUALS AND RACE--A REVIEW OF THOMAS SOWELL'S NEW BOOK OF THE SAME NAME

From the column:

"Whole cities, of which Detroit is a classic example, have been devastated physically, socially and economically by racial problems — which cannot be discussed honestly by elected officials, people in the media or academics, who do not want to become pariahs or, even worse, lose their jobs."

We see the same failure to honestly discuss racial problems right here in Costa Mesa.

In fact, as we  wrote before, we received some comments from a coward here locally who describes himself as "white," who refused to give his name but who tried to tell us that we shouldn't write about Black crime and other problems of non-Whites.

Look folks, there is a big difference in honestly discussing such problems by giving the facts of the problems and making logical inferences and offering opinions in ways that educate on the one hand and  in simply using derogatory racial terms and hate speech on the other.

The CM PRESS will continue to discuss such matters by giving facts, opinions and logical inferences.  If you are more likely to be attacked by Blacks, you should know that fact and not pretend the fact doesn't exist.

The truth is the truth and you should know the truth.

UPDATE ON THE STORY ABOUT THE ARMED LATINO IN MESA NORTH

Word on the street is the Latino with a sawed off shotgun that we reported on earlier, had robbed or attempted to rob someone using the ATM at the Starbucks center on the northeast corner of Baker and Fairview [the center with a Hoag walk-in facility]. This center is owned by the Segerstroms.

As far as we know, the Latino with the gun was not caught, so he's more than likely still in the area.  The greatest probability is that he lives in the Fillmore-Coolidge slum or in the slum to the west of Fairview or in the slum over in Mesa del Mar.

Yes, dear friends, we have slums aplenty in the north part of Costa Mesa.  And, the City is aware of them and is trying to stop White flight out of the area by doing feel good meaningless things such as planting flowers in front of the slums and by paving the alleys so the slum dwellers--mostly illegal aliens--feel loved and welcome here.

Oh, and don't forget, the Black rapist is still on the loose in the area.  He raped a woman in Mesa del Mar earlier this month.

TONIGHT'S CITY COUNCIL AGENDA

One stupid item on the agenda:  the spending of our tax money to redesign the lobby of City Hall.

Now, in tough economic times, where Councilmembers tell the CM PRESS that we don't have money to start thinning out the slums that are breeding grounds for crime and social dysfunction, why in the hell are we spending money to make the lobby of City Hall look nicer?

How does spending money at City Hall help our neighborhoods?  How does it improve our low school scores?  How does it attract upwardly mobile families here?  How does it drive down crime?
How does it help revitalize the Westside?

We bet that most people who live in Costa Mesa not only have never been to City Hall, but they don't even know where it is.

Hey, City Council, instead of spending money on all this crap, why don't you start setting it aside to fix the Westside by buying up slum buildings and tearing them down?
