CM PRESS # 810.1

CITY CLERK PUT ON LEAVE

The low I.Q. bigots and haters have already started their stupid comments about Ms. Folcik being put on leave because of the missed charter/ballot deadline.

And, as expected, many of these dimwits are blaming the good Councilmembers.

As we see it, the good Councilmembers actually tried to save Ms. Folcik by going to court to have the charter put on the ballot.

Our guess is that there may have been a chance that the judge would have ruled that the charter could go on the June ballot, but the side arguing against this may have been more persuasive.

Could it be that if the good Councilmembers had been able to prevail in court that they could have saved Ms. Folcik from being put on leave?

Yes, people can make mistakes.  But, in this case, the charter was the talk of the town for several months and all was a big "go" for June, except that Ms. Folcik filed the papers late.

Ms. Folcick is a highly paid employee in a very important position. Much is given to the City Clerk--Ms. Folcik makes $163,230.46 per year in total compensation--and much is expected; such as watching deadlines.

To those who say that the good Councilmembers should have been checking on Ms. Folcik, we can only say that the Councilmembers are not supposed to do that.  Their contact with employees--other than the usual pleasant greetings and small talk--is all supposed to be through the City CEO.

Because the good Councilmembers didn't prevail in court, they were unable to rectify Ms. Folcik's mistake.
