| Not Wendy Leece |
We imagine...a fictional talk by Goslow Wendy...
"Yoo hoo, it's me Wendy Leece. The other Councilmembers want to make an egg omelet and they have a recipe that they plan to use. I don't like that. It scares me.
"They say the recipe has been used for years in Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, and a whole bunch of other cities. Well, those cities aren't Costa Mesa. We're special. We're Costa Mesans.
"We're very unique. We're intelligent. We shouldn't just accept a recipe that others have used. We need to have an elected committee of fifteen Costa Mesa residents to discuss this for a couple of years.
"Now, don't get me wrong. I think an omelet is a good idea, but the Council needs to slow down and listen to the residents. What's the rush? It's the process that's important, not the taste of the final omelet.
"So long as we have the local
"Why, this is Costa Mesa. We're not Newport Beach or Irvine. We're
"I live on the Westside [in a safe gated community that might as well be in Beverly Hills] and you don't see me trying to improve the Westside, do you? I like it just fine where I live and I don't want to see any changes of any kind and I suspect the charter might have some secret stuff in it that may make it easier to improve the Westside and the City generally. I say, let's let the people in Sacramento tell us what to do here in Costa Mesa. We're not capable of governing ourselves. We need to protect the plantation system that we now live under. But, I digress.
"We had more than 200 suggestions for the omelet but the Council didn't listen.
"I read all those 200 comments and there were lots of good ideas from our very own intelligent Costa Mesa residents. Yes, we're special; we Costa Mesans.
"Why, one comment was to add possum to the eggs. Why didn't the Council listen to that suggestion? I'll tell you why, they're arrogant. They're going too fast. I think a subcommittee set up to investigate possums in the omelet would be a good idea.
"Another suggestion from a real Costa Mesan was to leave the shells on the eggs for extra calcium. Did the Council put that in their recipe? Nope. They just don't listen. They're so arrogant.
"One resident said there are stray dogs in Costa Mesa and that we could add them to the recipe. Did the Council listen? Of course not. They were too busy fiddling with their telephone thingamajigs instead of intently listening to these brilliant suggestions by our special and unique Costa Mesans."

Those are our opinions. Thanks for reading them.

Wendy: Sad but true.
