Government is trying to tell religious people to do things that are against their moral codes. Watch as the Catholics are joined by many other religious groups.
Our guess is that Obama's advisers are going to tell him to completely change his edict on this or face defeat in November.

| Perry Valentine |
Former City employee Perry Valentine* used the word "scary" at least four times in three minutes to describe the proposed charter.
We're not exactly sure why Valentine finds the seven page document scary, and he didn't say anything that we heard that made it sound scary.
Scary must mean something different to Valentine.
The truth is that the charter isn't scary at all. It simply gives local control of Costa Mesa to Costa Mesans.
Why anyone would want to continue to have our city controlled by legislators from Stockton and San Francisco and all of California's far flung cities instead of having the control right here in Costa Mesa is a story that is not explained by reason but in lefty politics or ignorance or a hatred of certain Councilmembers who are doers rather than talkers.
And on this last point: doers vs. talkers, isn't it clear that there are people who would rather just talk than do things, and isn't it often the case that some talkers have inadequate personalities and resent those who seem to have firm convictions and who would rather pound a nail than talk about it for six months?

Those are our opinions. Thanks for reading them.
CM Press, isn't it coincidental that many of the ones who fight the Charter so hard are all current or former public employees who get these pensions (Valentine, Egan, Folsom, etc.) Why would that be? Maybe they want to keep the gravy-train running to line their pockets. They have a financial interest in NOT becoming a Charter City. Very sad that these few claim to represent Costa Mesans.
