DAILY PILOT WILL TRY TO KEEP THE HATERS AND BIGOTS FROM POSTING THEIR FOUL COMMENTS WHICH ARE SOMETIMES LIBELOUS

As we reported previously, the OC REGISTER has also decided to do the same thing.

At the CM PRESS we long ago decided to not let haters and bigots use the CM PRESS to spew their hatred and bigotry.

We receive hundreds of comments, but you will see very few published.  A lot of the comments we get are great up to a point, but then in some cases something is slipped in that attacks someone else in the city or which is unsupported by any facts or which just doesn't add anything to the conversation.  We once considered just editing out the bad parts and letting the good parts stand, but then we decided against that.

Many of the comments we get are about another blogger, and while we think that blogger deserves the negative comments, we still  try to hold such comments back if they're anonymous and particularly strong.

However, if anyone wants to attack another blogger or a politician and if the comment isn't libelous and if the commenter signs his or her name, we may run it.

We will be looser about such things when they involve politicians or public figures, and when the commenter gives his or her real name and a way for us to verify that it is them, but the comments have to make sense.  We are not going to be a billboard for cowards who smear people, their kids and their families and who then hide behind false names.

For example, here's a comment that is over in the Daily Pilot today. If this had been sent to us, we wouldn't run it.  It's mostly unsupported opinion but since it's against politicians it wouldn't be considered libelous, but   it's just stupid and adds nothing to the conversation.  As to why it's stupid, look at our comments in [ ] that appear in Luminary's comment:

This is the most corrupt council in Costa Mesa's history.[ It is?  What, specifically, have they done that's corrupt?  And, have you studied all other councils?  Can you even name who was on the Council 6 years ago?  Three years ago?  This is just an unsupported claim.]

 Even the vendors said the Council is putting the cart before the horse. [Yes, two did. That's because they were afraid they wouldn't get the contract.]

Not one person other than Gary Monahan wants this. [Actually, many people want this, or some version of this, i.e. a park with things that don't cost taxpayers and which may make money for the city.]

The deal was done before the meeting. [Another unsupported claim.  How do you know this?]

The public was ignored. [ Nonsense.  The public was allowed to speak.  Not everything that everyone wants will be agreed to by the council. You just didn't get what you wanted.]

Let the lawsuits begin, [Under what legal theory?] all at the taxpayers expense. Shame on Righeimer and Mensinger and Monahan! [No, shame on you for writing such garbage that even a fifth grader would recognize it as being of no value. Also, four sentences before this one you wrote "Not one person other than Gary Monahan wants this." Now, you're saying "Shame on Righeimer and Mensinger" along with Monahan. So which is it?]

What's going on? 

Perry screwed up by trying to defend giving in-state tuition to illegal aliens in Texas while denying that to U.S. citizens who don't live in Texas.

Romney looks and sounds like just another phony plastic politician.

And, on this last point above, Cain, by contrast, comes across looking and sounding authentic and genuine. 

In addition, Cain is getting the votes of some low I.Q. Whites who daily try to prove that they're color blind, by, ah, noticing the color of people when they're not White, while denying they notice color, and then by supporting those who aren't White solely because they're not White.

SARKOZY: JEWISH STATE A 'SILLY' IDEA

Scratch the surface of Sarkozy's comments and you come to a major question facing all nations, and not just Israel, that can be stated this way: In the 21st Century, can groups of humans, who hold to ideas of their identity that distinguishes them from other humans, have states of their own that preserve that identity or must every state be "diverse" and eventually be blended into an indistinguishable mass of humanity?

Why the suits at Fox ever cancelled Arrested Development is beyond me.  Maybe it just had the wrong time slot.  If you never saw this show, you missed some side splitting  gags.
