COLUMN IN DAILY PILOT FROM A NEWPORT RESIDENT ABOUT HOMELESS PEOPLE IN TALBERT PARK
The writer asks for something to be done to stop homeless people from starting fires in Talbert Park--down at the end of W. 19th Street.
To solve the problem, one has to go to the source of the problem.
The source of the problem is all the non-profits in that area that welcome homeless people and illegal aliens to Costa Mesa.
The homeless people stay near where they can get free meals and other freebies. It's just human nature.
Remove the non-profits and the homeless people (and illegal aliens) will move away.

CRIME AND SLUMS
The CM PRESS constantly calls on the City Council to start thinning out the slums. Why? Because this will reduce crime in Costa Mesa. Slums are the safe harbors, the breeding grounds and the habitats for a criminal element.
The reality of crime is that most criminals don't commute to an area to commit crimes. They commit them close to where they live. This is where they have ample opportunities to check out the neighborhood and the individual homes, cars and residents who live in that neighborhood. So, dear Costa Mesa citizen, do you have any slums near your home? If so, you are more likely to be a crime victim.
Shouldn't you also be asking the City Council to start taking real and meaningful action by thinning out the slums? Isn't that more important than spending your money on redoing the lobby of City Hall?
