STRANGER DANGER IN COSTA MESA

PLEASE SHARE THIS MESSAGE WITH EVERYONE ON YOUR E-MAIL LIST. THIS COULD BE HAPPENING IN OTHER NEIGHBORHOODS AS WELL AS OURS AND WE ALL NEED TO HELP WATCH.

It just came to my attention that my friend's son was approached on 4/28 and 4/30 at approximately 6:55am by two different cars. My friend's 6th grader walks to Killybrooke from the French Quarter every morning to catch the school bus to Sonora. He leaves the French Quarter at 6:50am and walks down Garlingford. Each time he was approached was mid block on Garlingford. Fortunately, nothing happened to him and he is aware of "Stranger Danger" so he knew what to do. However, the situation is very frightening.

On 4/28 a beat up gray pick-up truck with gardening tools with two Hispanic men followed my friend's son very slowly, staring at my him to the point where he felt very uncomfortable. There was no verbal contact.

On 4/30 a black sedan with one man who looked Hispanic approached my friend's son. The man was bald and had tattoos on the back of his neck and head. He was described as being thin, muscular, and in his 20's or 30's. The man asked, "Hey kid, do you want some candy and go for a joy ride?" My friend's son ignored him and kept walking to Killybrooke. The man continued to slowly follow him and began to turn into the Killybrooke parking lot, but the school gardeners scared him away. The man left via Killybrooke Lane.

The police have been notified and my friend's son is no longer allowed to walk to Killybrooke to catch the bus to Sonora. I would appreciate it if you notified everyone in your database to keep an eye out to protect all our children.

Trust your instincts. If you see people or actions that are "out of place," or even just a little odd or unusual, call the cops and let them sort it out. If you're mistaken, no harm no foul. But, if you're right, you may save a kid's life.

Meanwhile, as we reported in previous editions of the CM PRESS, the Costa Mesa City Council continues to spend money like drunken sailors based on earlier rosy predictions from the Costa Mesa Finance Department that we warned were much too optimistic and imprudent.

TOM JOHNSON AND THE BEACH BUSINESS MODEL

Tom Johnson, the former publisher of the Daily Pilot, who lately has been running a website called The Daily Voice, which covers Newport Beach and Costa Mesa (just like the Daily Pilot), and which seemed to be an attempt to replace the Daily Pilot, announced today [HERE] that effective today, the Daily Voice will change its name to the Newport Beach Independent and will cover Newport Beach news and events.

Presumably, this means Costa Mesa will no longer be covered.

We're sorry to see this, as the CM PRESS has long believed that Costa Mesa only gains by being associated with Newport Beach.

Unfortunately, over the past few years, Costa Mesa has become more closely associated with Santa Ana than Newport Beach as our short-sighted local politicians have failed in so many ways to truly improve our city and have let the lefty loons drive Costa Mesa down to new lows.

Tonight, the Council is expected to give some of your tax money to some non-profits that help suspected illegal aliens feel comfortable and loved in Costa Mesa and which act like magnets drawing them here to the easy life on the Costa Mesa Plan.

"Hey, we don't need no stinkin' papers. We get free bags of groceries, help with paying our rent and electrical bills, free day care for our kids, free food for our kids in school, free medical and free dental care, and much, much more. You stinkin' citizens paying for all this stuff are muy stupido."
