CM PRESS # 855

“His naivete from being raised in a small town didn’t prepare him for the likes of you,” murdered USC student's mother from Idaho tells her son's killer from South Central LA. LINK

This is what happens when newspapers hide the truth about violent street crime. Neighborhoods aren't dangerous--they're inanimate. It's the people in some neighborhoods who are more dangerous than people in other neighborhoods.

Don't be a naive victim of street crime. Understand the demographics of crime and you'll increase your chances of not becoming a victim.

HILBERT PINNEL THOMAS, A BLACK MALE, ARRESTED AS SUSPECT IN DOUBLE HOMICIDE OF TWO WHITE PEOPLE INCLUDING A COSTA MESA RESIDENT

The OC REGISTER just couldn't bring itself to identify the suspect by race or ethnicity and went so far as to not show his photo. LINK

However, Channel 2-KCAL has a photo of the suspect HERE.

You will note that the OC REGISTER had no such compunction against showing a photo or about identifying a white guy by race who was just convicted of murder.

Liberal newspapers do that to make you think that crime is an equal opportunity employer. It's not.

FRIEND OF GANG RAPE VICTIM BLASTS SCHOOL
Young girl gang raped at school dance by minority youths. No ethnicity given on victim, but her friend is white. LINK

Remember: Crime is not an equal opportunity employer.

MINORITY GANGS FLEE N. VA. FOR D.C. AND MD WHERE COPS ARE EASIER ON THEM
Cops in N. Va. doing their jobs and gangs get out of Dodge. LINK

Remember: All living things gravitate to where they feel comfortable.

In this case, the gangs are moving out of an uncomfortable situation to a comfortable one.

Now, what would have happened in N. Va. if the lefties (like we have in Costa Mesa) had put in all sorts of hug-a-thug programs?

You know the answer. The gangs wouldn't be fleeing. They'd stay right where they are.

TWO JEWISH MEN SHOT AT SYNAGOGUE IN LA BY BLACK MALE
Both were shot in the legs and are expected to survive. Reports earlier today, before the suspect was identified as "black," had police immediately claiming it was a hate crime.

Now that the shooter has been identified as black, the police are backing off from their knee jerk hate crime claim. Funny how that rush to judgement stuff works in some cases.

GENES 'R US
This possible "poor driving gene" is reported in (of all places) the almost daily Daily Pilot. LINK

What next? Maybe the Pilot will learn that genes are involved in just about everything that involves living organisms, and not just the way we look, and that we're all different because of our genes and that our genes direct us according to various factors such as external and internal environmental variables. Uh oh, they may be accused of being, ah, poopy heads.

YOU WON'T BE PRIVY TO THE MOST IMPORTANT THING ON NEXT WEEK'S CITY COUNCIL MEETING--THE FAIRGROUNDS

HERE'S the agenda for the 11/3/09 meeting of the Costa Mesa City Council.

The most important item on the agenda is the one below, which is a closed session item (that means the public is barred):

2. Conference with Real Property Negotiators – Property: 88 Fair Drive. Agency Negotiator: Allan Roeder, City Manager. Negotiating parties: State of California, Under negotiation: price, terms of payment. Pursuant to Government Code Section 54956.8

Here's what may be going on. The property at 88 Fair Drive is the Fairgrounds.

Generally, when one government entity wants to sell a government owned property, it usually allows (or has to allow (?)) another interested government entity the first bite at the apple. Sorry, we don't have time to research the law on this, so the above is just from memory and our memory may be wrong; so we offer this as nothing more than a guess. Gov't Code Section 54956.8 is just about giving the negotiator the right to negotiate, so there's not much to wring out of that.

It could be that the City Council is trying to force the State to give the City of Costa Mesa a firm price on the Fairgrounds as a Fairgrounds (which will be many millions of dollars less than the highest and best use price for the Fairgrounds), and also the first bite at the apple. Again, this is just a guess.

If our guess is correct, and if the State sets a firm price based on the Fairgrounds continuing as a Fairgrounds, then the next step would be for the City of Costa Mesa to find a way to finance a purchase. This might be very tough in today's market, and we may be looking at a new Bond measure.

However, don't get your hopes up. We don't think the State would be foolish enough to set a firm price based on a Fairgrounds use. It's simply not the highest and best use of the land.
