We all wonder where the support for the criminals that roam are streets comes from.
How do they get by day after day?
We should not think that it starts and stops with only the illegal alien criminal's, it does not.
Previous studies have shown that CM is number 2 in Orange county in the number of known resident criminals, NUMBER TWO "WITH A BULLET" (pun intended) ,getting to number 1 may be difficult but we are trying.
We not only do not act to discourage this,we actively encourage it.
Our city actually passed regulations in direct conflict with state code allowing our motels to become low cost housing. Not only does this attract criminals, it makes the process of housing these people extremely profitable.In some cases we actually pay the cost for these residents. What a deal. This process then causes the cost of temporary housing to escalate for those truly deserving of our help. Because of the profitable nature of this practice,the problem continues,and we have the ability to prevent this.
Costa Mesa also has numerous "group homes"in many areas of the city. While the operators of these money makers will tell you about the good they provide the community, in fact many of these are little more than halfway houses and secondary detox units.
Many of the residents of these group homesare either on probation or parole and because of prison crowding are discharged to various diversion programs. These group homes provide the residential component for these programs.
Perhaps the most laughable part of this the stated "community benefit"previously mentioned
Is that any professional practioner of behavioral science and group dynamics will tell you recovering substance abuse patients and felons should not be allowed to mix(in many cases it is illegal) and they certainly should never be allowed to be roommates, as is the case in many of these situations.
Our neighbor Newport Beach figured this out a long time ago. The group homes are now being encouraged to leave the sunny shores of NB and go elsewhere. Guess where they are going? Costa Mesa.
We also permit certain non -specific areas to house large concentrations of sexual violators.
If we had any desire to discourage this,we could.
Current law provides for criminal penalties for certain classes of sexual offenders if they are found living within the proximity of a school, a public park, or other other locations where children may be expected to be seen. If we declared certain areas "parks" the CMPD could take action.
Previously, our city acted to reduce our protection under "Megans law." This was accomplished by restricting the general public's access to locations and identities of these felons in a desire to protect them from community action.
It was simple, we were permitted to view the files if we recognized a face as a possible offender in our neighborhood. Another way to look at this would be, after an incident and you reviewed the files,then you could act.
Now don't get too frustrated here, I am going to tell you the cause of all this and if you want to, you can call your city, state, or federal representatives to plead for there help,but don't expect to get it,here is why.
CRIMINALS ARE GOOD FOR BUSINESS.
They buy groceries,cars,clothing,entertainment,pay sales tax,often using your money.
Many of the businesses here in CM are operated by out the area owners, their priorities are clear,and all too often improving CM is not high on their list.
For the same reason, you often hear about a number of these groups getting some type of special benefit(that you pay for)wether it is free health care,food stamps,rental assistance,transportation,clothing,or simply political help.
This all comes from our public officials. These things could be stopped tomorrow if the public officials had a desire to do so.
Instead we pay out our money to address the problem after the fact, because that is how it is most profitable.
Of course that is just how it appears to me, maybe I am wrong.

HOW DOES A CITY BECOME A SKID ROW?
In Costa Mesa, and especially on the Westside, the answer is partly because there are many non-profit magnets pulling illegal aliens here and giving them support to remain here. All living things gravitate to where they're comfortable.
Remove the magnets with their freebies and their support, and the illegal aliens will go to where they feel more comfortable. It's nature's way.
Our opinion is that if some of the compassionate people in these non-profits would show as much compassion for their fellow citizens as they do for illegal aliens, the Westside might start improving, our crime rate might drop, our schools might improve and the quality of life for citizens of Costa Mesa, and especially those on the Westside, might get better.
And, how about some compassion for the innocent victims of violent crime caused by these people who shouldn't even be in this country?
Who cried for 16-year-old Ceceline Godsoe who was murdered behind Estancia High School on the Westside by a man who then fled to his native Mexico? Why was this murderer even living on the Westside in the first place? Who made him feel comfortable here? Why wasn't he deported before he killed this poor girl?
Who cried for the long time Daily Pilot employee who was stabbed to death by an illegal alien who was living with 12 others in a tiny apartment in the Shalimar slum? Why was this murderer living here? Was he a day worker? Was he getting freebies to stay here? Why wasn't he deported before he killed this poor woman?
So, what is the Costa Mesa City Council doing to make Costa Mesa-and the Westside--a nicer place for citizens to raise their families?
You be the judge:
At its regularly scheduled meeting on May 19, 2009, the Costa Mesa City Council voted to give $20,000 of your tax money (CDBG)to a non-profit on the Westside named MIKA. Link to City Council agenda item. Link to MIKA.
MIKA is headed up by Crissy Brooks who has a column today in The Daily Voice HERE,
in which Ms. Brooks complains about the recent deportation from Costa Mesa of 11 illegal aliens who were arrested for illegal solicitation on our streets. LINK
Ms. Brooks writes "I cried with the men as I sat in a hotel room in Tijuana explaining that the church in Costa Mesa is standing with them and their families."
So, Ms. Brooks spent some money to travel to Tijuana to commiserate with the criminals who had been deported. And, while there she told them that they have support in Costa Mesa.
Swell. One has to wonder if the money spent on Ms. Brooks' trip was taxpayer money given to her non-profit by the Costa Mesa City Council.
By the way, Ms. Brooks is also on the City's 3R Committee. That's the City Council appointed committee that makes recommendations to the City Council about how much money to give to the non-profits, including to Ms. Brooks' own MIKA non-profit that, as you read above, recently got $20,000 of your tax dollars. PS: Here's a story about another illegal alien laborer criminal in Costa Mesa who was recently arrested for sexual assault. No doubt he'll also be deported. Some may shed tears for this criminal, but you won't find any moist eyes for him and his fellow criminals at the CM PRESS. LINK

TO THE NORTH AND SOUTH OF US...
North--Santa Ana, aka Chocolate City--Couple, 2-year-old carjacked at gunpoint by Hispanics on Tuesday. LINK
South--Newport Beach, aka Vanilla City--No one was carjacked again on Tuesday.
Most of the violent street crime in our area occurs in Chocolate City and not in Vanilla City but there are actually numbnuts in Costa Mesa who think Costa Mesa should be more like Chocolate City as they spout all the $2 buck cliches about the joys of diversity.
Forget the phony slogans about rainbow this and wonderful tapestry that, and ask whether it would be better for YOUR family--yes, YOUR family, right there in your home--to have Costa Mesa be more like Vanilla City or Chocolate City.
