And, if any employee did jump off a roof, would anyone in their right mind blame the CEO of the company?  Would top executives and the board of directors all be expected to show up at company headquarters if an employee jumped off the roof?

When you get a job, you are getting a job.  You are not getting a family.  You are not getting a lifetime guarantee of employment.  It is a job.  It is not your life. You need to be self-actualized enough to understand that.

Unfortunately, people ignorant about human psychology will sometimes do things and say things that may make some employees think their job makes them part of some sort of close knit "family."  Then, when there are layoffs or the person is fired, it's not just about losing a job, it's about losing a family.

If there is blame in Costa Mesa about a man jumping off a roof, it should be placed at the feet of that elected official and others in the organization, and even some outside the organization, who over emphasized that city workers were part of a family.  They were not, and are not, part of a family.  They are employees. The organization--in this case the city government--does not exist to make them happy or feel loved and wanted.  They exist to make the organization run efficiently.

In a related vein, when I was in the Marines, we were never allowed to use the first names of other Marines. Doing so was considered unprofessional. It was a policy designed to help us keep a certain emotional distance from others in case any of us died in combat.  I never saw any of my fellow Marines get emotional when someone died. We all knew the risks of our job.  The Marines don't  draft people.  You have to sign up.  And, if you don't make the grade you get booted out. An expression lots of Marines used when I was in was "If I don't see you again, the hell with you."

In working for a company or a city, there must be a similar (but, clearly, not as strict) emotional detachment both from others you work with and also from the organization itself. It is a job. It is not your whole life. You are hired to do a job. If you are no longer able to do that job or if you don't do it well or if the company or organization needs to cut back, you may lose your job.  That is all you are losing.  You are not losing your family. Your life is not over.  Life is still worth living. It is never pleasant to lose your job, but you pick yourself up and move on.  Millions of others are laid off or otherwise lose their jobs.  You are not alone.

Clearly, they are already trying to set things up where a dumbed down O.J. type jury will give the shooter the benefit of the doubt and let him off easy.  "Why, he's a good boy and was turning his life around."

Take a look at the self-hating White pukes in the photos.  Don't they remind you of a self-hating lonely old man in Costa Mesa?  The same rolls of blubber and squishy soft flesh that seem to indicate a lack of hormones.  Thankfully, most of these creeps are unable to reproduce and this goes along with their squishy look.  No, this isn't a slam against normal folks who have put on some pounds. This is different.  This is the stuff of mental and physical eunuchs.  There is something seriously wrong with these pukes, mentally and physically.
