CM PRESS # 990

Ann Coulter:  "White Guilt Has Produced Mistake After Mistake"

Yeah, except it isn't so much White guilt as it is White cowardice and fear of being called names.

Race is a reality, and different races--statistically--have different pluses and minuses.  Get over trying to pretend that all races--statistically--are the same.

No, we're not fudging by putting in "statistically."  There are individuals in every race that go against the statistics for this or that race.  Some Whites can jump, and some Blacks have no rhythm.

UH OH, OCTA BOARD POSTPONES DECISION ON 405 WIDENING

Previously, it looked as though Mayor Bever and his peers from surrounding cities had won the battle to kill off the proposed toll lanes that would screw up Costa Mesa and a few other cities, but now we're hearing that the OCTA board is calling such concerns parochial (read "selfish") and they're saying they're concerned with "regional" traffic (read screw you Costa Mesa we don't give a damn about your traffic concerns, you're only an older built-out city, and the center of gravity of Orange County has now moved south, so we're more concerned with the traffic in South County where most of the growth is happening).

STANDARDIZED TEST SCORES IN PHILADELPHIA SCHOOLS DROP SIGNIFICANTLY AFTER STEPS ARE TAKEN TO STOP CHEATING

How about Costa Mesa schools?  Several years ago the CM PRESS saw a newspaper article in which the principal and teachers of one of our local schools were being given accolades for the remarkable increase in student scores on standardized tests from one year to the next.

We didn't believe the results and said so.  The increase in scores was not only remarkable, it was absurd.

We contacted the local newspapers to see if they would look into this more, but they were happy to continue with the feel good talk, so the issue never got the attention it should have.

We think this is still going on in some of our schools.

From the TO THINE OWN SELF BE TRUE file...

KNOWING WHO YOU TRULY ARE, LIKING IT, AND LIVING WITH OTHERS LIKE YOURSELF IS A PROTECTION AGAINST SUICIDE AMONG BLACK WOMEN

The above scholarly study is narrowly crafted, but one suspects the same results would prevail for all people, i.e. having a strong sense of your genetic and cultural identity, liking this identity, and living among others who share and also like this identity makes one feel happier and strengthens one's self-esteem and outlook on life.

Or, to put it more simply:  Knowing and liking who and what you truly are is the way to happiness.
