CM PRESS # 96

PUTTING IT IN PERSPECTIVE

Think we're an important species on an important planet?

Our galaxy, the Milky Way, has 200 billion stars, many of them much larger than our own sun.

Andromeda, the next galaxy over, has a trillion stars.

MANSOOR SAYS HE IS LOSING FAITH IN THE FAIRGROUNDS PURCHASE PROCESS

At last night's City Council meeting, Mayor Mansoor took Flopsy Foley to task for what Mansoor said was Foley's premature release of Fairgrounds purchase information to the press that was discussed in a closed session of the Council.

Flopsy defended herself by saying that she had received permission from the City Manager to release the information.

What we can know for sure: If closed session information was to be released, then at a bare minimum, the Mayor should have been the one to release it or to authorize it and he most certainly shouldn't have been kept out of the loop as was apparently the case.

So...was Flopsy just trying to get her name in the paper again? That's what it looks like.

But, it get's worse. Flopsy and Gary Monahan have now been named as a two person committee to somehow keep an eye on the negotiations as the purchase process goes forward and report back to the full Council, in closed session, what they learn.

Folks, given the above and with some Kentucky windage thrown in, the CM PRESS is also concerned about the way this possible purchase of the Fairgrounds is being handled.

Our fear is that the citizens of Costa Mesa are going to end up with the short end of the stick on this.

Frankly, we'd like to know the connections and relationships that exist between any and all negotiators or other major players in the negotiations and any City Council members.

We'd also like to know that any negotiators or major players are acting in good faith for the benefit of the citizens of Costa Mesa and not for their own benefit.

  1. I'm so sick of Foley grandstanding. Every issue she has to take credit for. Can't someone shut her up.
