For those of you who don't want to leave this page, Tacredo says what many people also believe: The Tea Party movement is a parade coming down the street and the suits in D.C.; on the right, the middle and the left are trying to figure out how to steer it to their benefit.

BLACK PUNK ATTACKS 67-YEAR-OLD WHITE MAN AND GETS HIS NOSE BROKEN BY THE WHITE GUY
Link to video.
Just another sign that Whites are getting fed up with being the victims of non-White crime.
Scumbags at CBS tried to make the White guy the bad guy, but the video tells the truth.

PLANNING COMMISSIONER COLIN MCCARTHY GETS IT RIGHT ABOUT DENSE APARTMENTS (SORT OF) BUT ENDS UP PULLING PUNCHES AND WRITES A COUPLE OF SQUISHY PC THINGS
Link
Here's the most important thing that McCarthy wrote:
"Graffiti in Mesa North, Mesa Del Mar and the Westside always occurs near the same high density apartments. I rarely see graffiti in Mesa Verde or the Eastside. Why? They have less high-density rental housing."
Unfortunately, McCarthy then pulls punches as he follows the above by saying that we don't build enough owner occupied homes in Costa Mesa. Now, that's true, however, we would have liked to see McCarthy write what the CM PRESS has been calling for: a thinning out of the dense apartments similar to the way it is being done in Stanton.
We don't need a redevelopment zone. We don't need eminent domain. All we need is for the City to step into the real estate market as would any ordinary investor/buyer and buy up dense apartment buildings when they come on the market; one here and one there. Then, unlike an ordinary investor/buyer, the City should tear them down and put in additional parking or green space.
Now, this could be done by the City alone, or the City could form a partnership with the private sector. Either way, if the dense apartments are thinned out, we'll see less graffiti, less crime, less crowding, fewer gangs, an improvement in our schools and a general improvement of Costa Mesa and especially in those areas that are so impacted with these dense apartments.
The first squishy thing that McCarthy wrote was this: "Graffiti is not a Latino problem or a Caucasian problem...." Okay, so why even waste words writing this? (You know the answer.) But, since the door was opened with this statement, you astute readers are probably saying "Where are the statistics to back this up?" McCarthy offers none.
McCarthy then tells us that graffiti, is, well: "...it’s a housing problem." Actually, not one dense apartment building has ever put graffiti on anything. Humans are the ones who put graffiti around the city. Humans cause crime. Humans cause social dysfunction. Humans cause our schools to fail. Humans cause the deterioration of the city.
But we don't want to be too picky and we understand the larger point that McCarthy is making. And, notwithstanding anything we've written above, this really isn't intended as a criticism of McCarthy and we're pleased that he at least brought this up in the almost daily Daily Pilot. That's more than most others on the dais are doing.
As you may know, McCarthy is in line to run for the City Council, but has probably planned on that being in 2012 instead of 2010. The reason is that in the 2010 election there will be two seats up, and it's expected that Jim Righeimer and Wendy Leece will run on "our side."
However, as previously reported, the CM PRESS is hearing grumbling from the Improvement community over some of the decisions that have been made by Ms. Leece who seems to vote with lefty Katrina Foley far too much and who thus thumbs her nose at Improvers, as well as at Mayor Mansoor and Councilmember Bever.
Will some decide to dump Leece and ask McCarthy to run in 2010? Stay tuned.

Those are our opinions. Thanks for reading them.
I wish our Costa Mesa City Council would do exactly what you suggest Martin. I am in complete agreement. Costa Mesa used to be a relatively crime free little town. Fewer slums automatically equates to less crime. If the city doesn't want to get into the real estate business, they should consider rezoning the slums to housing for senior citizens only. That way they could kill 2 birds with one stone.
