CM PRESS # 26

80-YEAR-OLD WHITE WOMAN LEAVING CATHOLIC MASS SHOT IN THE HEAD AND KILLED IN "DETERIORATING" NEIGHBORHOOD
Link

Now, what do you suppose "deteriorating" neighborhood means? Right. And if the description of the killer is given, what do you think it will be?

Youngstown is now majority non-White. Link

VIOLENT CRIME IS NOT AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER AND FAR TOO MANY WHITES ARE VICTIMS OF NON-WHITE VIOLENT CRIMINALS. MEANWHILE, THE PRESS AND THE SOCIAL ENGINEERS TRY TO HIDE THE FACTS FROM YOU. KNOW THE TRUTH AND YOU'LL BE LESS LIKELY TO BE A VICTIM.

QB TIM TEBOW TO APPEAR IN SUPERBOWL ANTI-ABORTION AD
LINK

Tebow's mother was told she should abort him. She didn't. He's a Heisman Trophy winner and at 6' 3" and 250 lbs. is considered to be one of the strongest guys to ever play QB. Double threat. Runs as good as he throws.

Anti-life lefties want CBS to pull the ad.

NEW POLL: SCOTT BROWN COULD BEAT OBAMA
Link

Heady times for newbie Brown. While we like the results of the poll and while we're impressed with Brown so far, the reality is that he hasn't been on the national stage long enough to see what he's really made of.

If his feet aren't made of clay, Brown may turn into a real player. Imagine, a Brown in the White House. Who'd a thunk it? Er...well...you get it.

Trivia alert: I had that line "Who'd a thunk it?" in a play years ago. It was a brilliant delivery of course.

GETTING READY TO CRANK UP THE LHC
Link

In November, the LHC set a world record at 1.18 TeV per proton beam.

Now, the crew is preparing to crank the world's biggest machine up to 3.5 TeV per beam. This is expected to happen in mid-February.

Will the LHC uncover the Higgs Boson (the theorized sub-atomic particle that is believed to make existence as we know it possible)?

COSTA MESA TO PUT MORE EFFORT AND MONEY INTO REMOVING GRAFFITI
...Instead of removing the causes. (Hint: Remove the slum buildings and the slum problems go away. Read the article below this one.)

GOOD READ IN THE LA TIMES ABOUT HOW TO KEEP AN AREA SAFE
Link

There are lessons in this article for Costa Mesa, but so far the City Council seems to have 10 tin ears.

The fact is that Costa Mesa's crime problem neighborhoods have the same type of dense, run down apartments as the major crime problem areas in this article.

To solve Costa Mesa's crime problems we need to thin out the dense run down apartments. They are cancers on our city and they keep nearby residents from being able to have pride in the neighborhoods where these slum buildings sit.

How many times do we have to say this? Why can't the City Council members understand this?

ANOTHER BIG BOMB ATTACK IN IRAQ TODAY
Link

It follows three such attacks yesterday.

So, what's the big picture in Iraq?

It's this: As we predicted years ago, that blundering idiot George Bush and his friends simply didn't understand the dynamics of Iraq. They still don't.

We killed the one guy who was keeping the nation relatively stable--Saddam Hussein. And, the American public was treated to horror stories about Saddam to justify the useless deaths of our own kids who were sent there.

Now with Saddam and his regime gone, Iraq is heading toward anarchy and then an Islamic government that truly will be anti-American and which will be able to form alliances with other anti-American, mostly Islamic, regimes.

Meanwhile, the American people are being fed gushy stories about how the Iraqis can now take over their own affairs and, golly, American troops are no longer needed.

What a bunch of crap. It seems the U.S. government's most effective function is in propagandizing easily suggestible American citizens into believing nonsense.

Our guess is that many Americans still think there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and that Saddam and his pals were throwing babies out of bassinets and on to the floor.

WHAT THE...STEVE SMITH AT THE ALMOST DAILY DAILY PILOT SAYS MOVE THE FAIR TO THE GREAT PORK
Link

As we've said for many months, there are forces in South County who want the annual Orange County Fair moved to the Great Pork.

That, in our opinion, is one of the mostly unspoken reasons for the sale of the Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa.

Now, Steve Smith--who at last report doesn't live in South County--jumps on board and writes that, indeed, the Fair should be moved to the Great Pork.

Is Smith a traitor in our midst or is he just finally catching on to what's bubbling behind the scenes and wants to agree to what may be inevitable? It's probably the latter.

Smith then offers an idea of how to keep the Costa Mesa Fairgrounds from being developed if there is no longer a fair. Why, all we need to do, according to Smith, is have the Pacific Symphony Orchestra occupy the amphitheatre year round.

Huh?

Good grief! That's not even a nice try. Smith seems to be a violin short of a string quartet.

In the first place, the Orchestra can't draw large enough crowds to make it worthwhile financially, and in the second place there will be noise complaints. In the third place, the types of crowds that are drawn to such an Orchestra are usually older and...oh, never mind. Geez.

On a scale of one to ten about good ideas to keep the fairgrounds from being developed, with ten being the worst, Smith's is an eleven.
