The Common Cuckoo is a brood parasite. It lays its eggs in the nests of other types of birds and lets these other birds raise the new Cuckoos. The female Cuckoo will usually push an egg of the host bird out of the nest and replace it with its own egg. When the baby Cuckoo(s) hatch, they are usually more aggressive in getting food from the host parent and will often push the host parent's own offspring out of the nest to their deaths.
Thus, not only does the Cuckoo spread its DNA with very little effort and increase its amount of DNA in the world, but by pushing the host bird's eggs out of the next and then later when Cuckoo chicks push hatched host bird chicks out of the nest to their deaths, the Cuckoo also decreases the amount of DNA of the host birds in the world and increases its own competitive advantage as is struggles for food and living space.
Do you know any people who are like Human Cuckoos? If so, the word being used to describe them these days is Cucks, as in Cuckold. They raise those with DNA unlike their own and thus, in the struggle for survival harm themselves and their kind while helping other kinds.
