LOCAL AND ABOVE THE FOLD...

HOLLY WOODLAWN DIES

I did a play in NYC with Holly and Candy and Jackie.  Robert De Niro, me, and one other guy were the only straight guys in the play.  Naturally, I was brilliant.  Holly and the others called me an "uptown actor," which was a compliment.

I wasn't that long out of the Marines when I did the play.  A short time later, De Niro went on to do Taxi Driver, where he played ex-Marine Travis Bickle.

Some say he used me as the basis for his character. I don't know, Maybe. We both studied with Stella Adler and at the same time, and one of her important rules for actors was to notice people around you all the time and to jot down notes about their mannerisms and clothes, etc. in case you needed to create a character in a movie or play. So, it's possible.  In my view, Taxi Driver was De Niro's best performance.  His clothes, some of his mannerisms, his politics, his apartment, were much as I was.

There's been talk over the years of making a sequel to Taxi Driver, but nothing has come together, usually because they haven't come up with a script they like.  Well, they should talk to me.  I have the perfect script for them, and it even has a role for Jody Foster.  Would be big!  Hey you guys, you can contact me through SAG/AFTRA or maybe the Writers Guild still has me on a dusty Rolodex or, well, I'm not hard to find.

And, HERE'S a musical tribute to Holly.

347 NEW PLANT SPECIES AND 424 NEW ANIMAL SPECIES DISCOVERED

We always read about plants and animals going extinct, but we seldom see (in the MSM) reports of all the  new species coming into existence.  And, when we do read about them, they're usually presented in such a way that everyone thinks they've been here all along and have just now been discovered. Of course, that's sometimes the case, but the fact is that nature is the tireless back yard engineer and inventor that constantly tinkers with life in a trial and error basis to fashion organisms that can adapt and live in our dynamic and ever changing reality.  So, some organisms will not adapt and they will die off, but many others will adapt and change and evolve and survive and thrive.

Most animals aren't aware of these things and nature just uses default settings.  We humans, on the other hand, are aware or are at least capable of being aware of these things and it is up to us to ensure that we override the default settings if necessary to ensure that we survive and thrive.  Nature, for its part, doesn't care which organisms live or go extinct.  It just wants life to survive and expand, and at this level of existence, life in a bacterium is the same as life in a man.

BLACK FRENCH COMIC SENTENCED TO JAIL FOR CRITICIZING JEWS

There is no real free speech in much of Europe.

If you so much as ask questions about the so-called Holocaust you can end up in jail.
