PUERTO RICO BAFFLED BY HIGH ASTHMA RATE

Well, not really baffled, just trying to deny that genes matter.

Genes are us.

ALABAMA TOWN'S FAILED PENSION SENDS A WARNING

Read deep into the story and you'll see "White flight" getting part of the blame for the decline of this town.

Whites left and  then the retailers also left.

Rep. Peter King to be the Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee

He has a reputation for being tough on illegal immigration.

The fictionalized Marquis De Sade from Marat/Sade could not be making better choices in casting parts in the new congress to stick it to the establishment.  Elections matter, and so far, and for the most part, the Republicans seem to be on the right track.

Now, if the GOP can just get that ninny Newt Gingrich and similar phonies to go away, we may have a GOP that doesn't backslide as it has in the past.

IRAQ WANTS THE U.S. OUT

What did we accomplish besides killing a lot of people including our own kids? Less than nothing.

Give it some time--maybe months, maybe years--and Iraq will become what we predicted before the war: An Islamic Republic similar to Iran.

This means Iraq will be more of a problem for us than it was under Saddam Hussein.

And, remember, it wasn't George Bush's kids who were dying.  It was the kids of average Americans who were manipulated into a senseless war.

IS SOMETHING AFOOT?

Comes word [HERE]that Marc Puckett, Costa Mesa's former Finance Director, has now quit his new job after just three months as Finance Director of Petaluma.

This follows on the heels of the announcement that Costa Mesa's former Asst. City Manager Donn Lamm is also leaving his job after a short stint as the City Manager of Westminster [HERE].

And, it also follows the announcement that Costa Mesa's City Manager Allan Roeder is also leaving his job[HERE].

After Roeder announced his retirement from Costa Mesa, the CM PRESS had a short conversation with him in which he said that he wasn't really retiring [as in sitting around and doing nothing but fishing], but was going to do something else.  Hmmm.  Something else? What could that be?

Is it possible that these three are planning on opening a consulting firm to advise cities on various matters?

Sort of an A-Team of city experts that can parachute in to troubled cities as consultants on a contract basis?

Of course, we're just making a wild guess here.

In the world we inhabit there are no certainties, just probabilities.

MICHIGAN TOWN PLEADS FOR BANKRUPTCY
This may be a growing trend.  May even happen in Costa Mesa if more cuts aren't made to a bloated local nanny government.

You think all those freebies given to illegal aliens in this city are really free?  You're paying for them.
