HERE'S THE AGENDA FOR TONIGHT'S PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING
Self-important Robert Dickson is likely to be named the new chair of the Planning Commission.
Below is what we wrote about Dickson in CM PRESS # 440 back on March 17, 2011.
Dickson is the guy who insulted Improvers and who refused to answer some of our simple questions about his views on Improvement.
Keep an eye on this guy. We think he's as phony as Wendy Leece and a kiss-up. He seems to want to be on every side of every issue.
He sometimes writes weak-sister, mealy mouthed support comments of the good Councilmembers in the Daily Pilot but, again, he tries to be on every side of every issue instead of clearly telling anyone what he is for.
Back when we were getting Improvement going, the CM PRESS was a constant presence at every City Council, Planning Commission and Parks and Recreation meeting. But, once some improvement minded people got elected and established an improvement tone on the council and the two commissions we felt things were in good hands, so we only rarely attended meetings thereafter.
If Dickson starts screwing Improvement up, we'll be back. Count on it.

THE LATEST ON NEWBIE NO-PLANNING COMMISSIONER DICKSON
First, Dickson ignored our nine simple questions. Then, a third party friend of Dickson's contacted us and said that Dickson wasn't going to answer our questions but that we should call Dickson on the phone.
We indicated to Dickson's friend that Dickson should simply email us his answers to the nine questions. That way there would be no doubt as to his positions and there would be no possibility that he would be misquoted or taken out of context.
Now we've been contacted by the same third party again who says that Dickson will answer our questions but we should call him on the phone for the answers.
As far as we can tell, he's like Windy [sic] Leece who says she's for improvement but whose idea of improvement seems to be to do nothing more than plant flowers in front of slums.
And as far as the do-nothing category goes, we can't remember seeing Dickson at any City Council meetings, no-Planning Commission meetings, City Council study sessions or other meetings that activists attend to try to help move Costa Mesa forward.
He did show up at some candidate forums during the last election cycle where he was seen schmoozing and joking with candidates and their activist supporters, in what we believe was his attempt to get a free ride on to the no-Planning Commission.
Why are we all over this guy, you ask? It's because, as we previously reported, this guy used to make smarmy, negative comments about improvement and improvers in posts to the Daily Pilot and as far as we know he's never been active and just showed up at candidate forums to get a resume enhancement appointment.
"They [Improvers] accuse Westside businesses of everything from hiring illegal immigrants to causing cancer — all without a shred of evidence."
He has also called Improvers "self-anointed Improvers."
Is this guy from the Planet OJ Jury? Can't he make reasonable assumptions about what he sees and smells on the Westside? Maybe he just doesn't spend much time on the Westside. Maybe he doesn't know where it is.
Just take a drive down Placentia Ave and you can smell the pollution. And, look out of the window of your car and you can see presumed illegal aliens congregating near the factories.
Dickson, you have our private email address. Just answer the nine questions. Once we have your answers, we can talk about your answers on the phone or in person. But, we want your answers to those nine questions to set the stage.
Maybe you can disabuse us of our opinions. Maybe we have it wrong. Help us get it right by simply answering the nine questions via email. Then, we'll talk.
But, you better understand that we're immune to schmoozing and ass kissing.
Here are the nine simple questions again:
1. Do you support the overlays on the Westside?
2. Do you support building homes on the Westside bluffs?
3. Do you think we have too many charities on the Westside?
4. Do you think we should remove slums?
5. Do you think we should make W. 19th Street into a destination location similar to 2nd Street in Belmont Shore?
6. Do you think illegal aliens should be arrested and be deported?
7. Do you think closing the job center was a good idea?
8. Do you deny that illegal aliens are being hired in businesses on the Westside?
9. Do you deny that there is pollution coming from some businesses on the Westside?
