COMES NOW AN ARTICLE IN THE LA TIMES ABOUT HOW FEW LA CITY WORKERS ACTUALLY LIVE IN LOS ANGELES

You may have to subscribe to read the article.  In essence, it points out that very few city employees live in the city.  And, there seems to be a growing feeling that if they work for the city they should live in the city.

Sound familiar?  The CM PRESS has been saying (for years) the same things about Costa Mesa and our city employees.  As we reported the other day, only 7.3% of our sworn police officers live in Costa Mesa.  Don't you think we'd be better off if all of our sworn officers lived here?

HATERS IN COSTA MESA HATE DEVELOPERS BUT THEY ALL LIVE IN HOMES BUILT BY DEVELOPERS--TO PROTEST AGAINST DEVELOPERS, THE HATERS SHOULD REFUSE TO LIVE IN ANY HOME OR APARTMENT BUILT BY A DEVELOPER 

One of the common complaints I see from the haters is about new homes being built in Costa Mesa and how these new homes are "destroying the character of the city." To this, I say, good!  Many of these new homes are going in on the gang and illegal alien and charity infested Westside which has been a drag on the rest of the city. That kind of character we don't need.

Some of the haters also seem to be upset that Costa Mesa may be losing its "small town" feel. Well, all of Orange County is losing that feel.

The problem is that more and more people are moving here and this creates a natural upward pressure to supply housing and shopping opportunities for them.

If the haters want a bucolic small town atmosphere, they should move to an area that is not attracting so many new residents and which isn't in the path of progress.  There are plenty of places like that.  There's no development in them because not many people want to move to them. But, some people like that atmosphere.  So, haters, please move.    We can't control the fact that ocean close Costa Mesa is desirable geography and that people want to live here.

What we can control is the type of developments we want to see so that we can target and attract well educated, professional, upwardly mobile, contributing  residents who will not need to take advantage of the freebies offered by the pathological altruists.
