Those that don't listen and act might as well have never lived at all. Stay away from these latter ones lest they infect you with their insipidness, their sterility, and their sickly lack of life force and energy, for they are empty husks who hate life and vitality. They are eternal winter; spring never comes to them. They have nothing to offer you. Ignore them.

In his letter, the mayor says the City is working hard to hire more police officers. Hopefully, we'll get some top professionals who focus on police work and who won't try to put puppets on the City Council who will give away the store to unions.
It'd also be a nice switch if more of our police officers actually lived here in Costa Mesa, so their wives and kids faced the same daily problems that citizens face and so they and their families are part of the community.
As we've written before, California law won't allow cities to require that their employees live in the cities where they work. We think it's a stupid law and should be changed.
In Boston, all City employees must live in the City. If any are found to not live there, they're fired.
We've heard the arguments by some police officers who say that they might find it uncomfortable if they live here and run into people they've arrested while they're out shopping or at football and baseball games and similar events. We don't think this is a legitimate concern. Firstly, Costa Mesa is large enough so that such contacts would be rare. Secondly, most people won't even recognize most cops when they're out of uniform.

Be sure to watch the really stupid PC and useless short news video at the above link that is supposed to warn "people" about being attacked.
What's missing from the video: 1. The attackers are always Black. 2. The victims are almost always White or are mistaken for being White.
To be warned, you have to know what you're being warned against.
