CAN WE IMPROVE COSTA MESA'S TWO HIGH SCHOOLS BY MAKING THEM FOOTBALL SCHOOLS?
We think so. High schools with top rated football programs attract attention. They also attract students who may not be interested in football at all, but who want to be associated with the school and its reputation.
Today, many high school football players are as big and as fast as pro players, and the top high school games are televised.
We don't know how much money the high school football teams bring in to their schools, but HERE'S A LINK to an article about how much money some college football teams bring in to their colleges each year.
Here's a preview of the article: The University of Texas football team brought $ 93,942,815 to the school last year.

Cut through all the blather and the linked article just says that another form of early human has been discovered.
Anyone who knows anything about evolution is not surprised. Expect many more similar discoveries.
As humans migrated around the planet, some small groups became isolated from other groups and they evolved differently than other groups. This is the stuff of Darwin's finches in human terms.

GOVERNOR BROWN TAKES OFFICE

We have a confession. We've always liked Brown. We like his openness and plain speaking. We like his reportedly simple life style. We like the fact that he spent time in a Jesuit seminary. We think he has some basic honesty, depth and genuineness that is missing in many politicians (such as Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich).
Now, let's see if he can fix broken California.

Mr. Millard, very happy to read your Brown comments. I concur. This man walked the walk before it was fashionable. In the 70's he was ridiculed for recommending many innovations that are now standard operating procedure in many states. Even Chicago columnist Mike Royko, who coined the name "Gov. Moonbeam," retracted his criticism and applauded him. Now, Brown has already told the special interests to fasten their seat belts. I don't think the apple falls far from the tree and if I am right, we'll have a great leader.
ReplyDeleteFootball is not the answer. Start by demanding that the school board stop granting transfer requests from CM schools to Newport Harbor. NH has twice as many kids as Estancia. They get the cream of our crop because the school board is too weak to say no to their rich Newport backers.
