MAN GETS THREE YEARS IN JAIL FOR SEX WITH A HORSE
LINK

Will we now see letters in the almost daily Daily Pilot bemoaning the "hatred, bigotry and un-Christian attitudes" of those who sent this man to jail and who think this is perverse and unnatural?

Will we hear arguments that they should be allowed to marry, and, "Hey, why does their marriage affect your marriage?"

KARZAI INVITES THE TALIBAN INTO HIS GOVERNMENT
LINK

In light of the above, shouldn't even the dullest among us (say, like some Costa Mesa pols) now understand that this war that has now become Obama's war in Afghanistan makes no sense and that not a single drop of American blood should be shed there?

Meanwhile, General McChrystal is demanding at least another 40,000 American kids be sent to fight...who?...the Taliban...yes, that's the one and same Taliban that our puppet Karzai has invited to join his government.

Is your head spinning yet? Is that a war you want to send your kids to fight?

ITALY CONVICTS 23 CIA AGENTS
The stupid and arrogant Bush administration thought it could break laws all over the planet and no one would mind. They were wrong. LINK

Bush and his dumb pals are the same kind of Republicans we find in some elected and appointed offices here in Costa Mesa. And, these are the kind of stupid Republicans that give the party a bad name, get things screwed up and cause the party to lose elections.

DAY LABORER PROTESTS THIS MORNING?
Here's a comment we just received, and we're putting it here as well as in comments because we think it may be important:

Tipster said...
Day laborer protest on Newport at 18th this morning around 8:00am. About ten men holding up large signs that said "jobs not tickets" and "hire day laborers here." On the SW side of the street, near The Closet. Obviously organized, prepare for trouble on this front. No CMPD.

COUNCILMEMBER BEVER DOESN'T GET IT

When the CM PRESS told the Council last night that it was stupid to not remove slum buildings and put in green areas as is now being done in Stanton, Councilmember Bever threw a sissy hissy fit and said that Costa Mesa had bought up such buildings (plural) and put in pocket parks (plural).

Ah, not exactly. The Council, several years ago, bought up one building on Shalimar--after the CM PRESS suggested they do this--and turned it into one pocket park. Then the Council stopped and didn't buy up more buildings, as it should have done.

Bever then said that the Council had recently looked at a couple of more buildings on Shalimar but that they were too expensive. Ah, what do you think the crime is costing us Bever? Also, those two buildings are ones that the CM PRESS told the Council about.

Bever continued by saying that the slum buildings are cash cows to the owners.

Right. That's part of our point. The mostly out of town owners are buying the slum fourplexes and triplexes and packing them with illegal aliens in unsafe and unsanitary conditions, but the City isn't doing much about it.

If the City did the right things, then the buildings would no longer be cash cows and the owners would sell them for a reasonable price.

You see, it's all connected. You have to be able to think beyond what is right in front of you at the moment. This is something that the Council has a hard time doing.

At any rate, HERE, again, is the article from the OC REGISTER about what Stanton is doing to improve that city.

FLOPSY FOLEY'S OFFICE ALMOST BURGLED
LINK

All the burglaries sound like inside jobs to us. Check janitorial staff. Check tradesmen.
Check delivery people.

It's a good thing they didn't get Foley's computers. She's been working on a letter to send to President Bush asking him to secure our borders.

"HEY KIDS, LET'S PUT ON A SHOW!!! WE CAN USE MY UNCLE'S BARN!"

The babes in arms on the Costa Mesa City Council want to buy the Fairgrounds.

Of course, they came up with that brilliant feel-good idea after Councilmember Bever had said the city doesn't even have enough money to buy up a couple of crime infested fourplexes and turn them into green areas.

And, don't forget that Costa Mesa is in a $19 million dollar financial hole.

The CM PRESS felt sorry for the City Attorney last night, who we guess had her arm twisted to come up with a report telling the City Council that they can legally put a narrowly crafted initiative on the ballot so voters can tell the state that the voters want the Fairgrounds to remain a fairgrounds.

Missing from the report was the City Attorney's opinion on whether, ultimately, such a move or similar moves will allow the City of Costa Mesa to restrict the use of the property to its present lowest and worst use.

Do you know why that wasn't in the City Attorney's report? The answer is because Costa Mesa can't do that.

The City Council and some who want to be elected to the City Council are creating false hopes in the minds of citizens.

As we told the Council last night, the center of gravity in Orange County has moved south. The actual OC Fair will move to the Great Park as will most other major similar attractions.

One footnote on this that should not be lost: At last night's meeting, but unrelated to the discussion about the ballot initiative, there was a brief mention that some neighbors of the Fairgrounds had recently complained to the Council about noise from the Fairgrounds during a recent event and that Mayor Mansoor was going to look into the noise problem.

Ah folks, connect up the dots....
